Area Operations in the Center for Areas and Properties is looking for a new operations leader for Operations Green. In Area Operations we are about 80 employees with different professional backgrounds, education and origins. As the municipality's operations department, our tasks range from operation, care and maintenance of the municipality’s green areas and municipal cemeteries to supervision, operation and maintenance of public roads as well as winter service.

We are looking for a new operations leader for Operations Green, who will create the best framework for the employees and help ensure that the municipality’s operations tasks are solved efficiently and with high quality.

What is the frame for the job?

In close collaboration with your leadership colleague in Operations Green, you must ensure good and proper leadership of the approx. 35 employees, where you take responsibility for about half. The staff is evenly distributed between you in daily operations.

With reference to the Head of Area Operations, as Operations Leader you have responsibility for daily operations, task solving and leadership of your own area. As Operations Leader you focus on high professionalism, operational optimization and good service for the benefit of the municipality's citizens and users. This happens in close interaction with your leadership colleague in Operations Green and your other colleagues in the management team.

What tasks will you perform?

On your to-do list

• Daily prioritization and qualification of tasks
• Staff management, including creating motivation, well-being and job satisfaction
• Optimal task management and consistency in task execution
• Systematic holding of performance and development interviews, handling of sick leave etc.
• Guarantee for good and clear collaboration internally and externally, including through good and clear communication
• Responsibility for your own operations team as well as management of the shared budget in Operations Green

You will be part of the team that, in rotation, handles operations duty and winter service. At the same time you will join a management team focusing on cooperation and interdisciplinary task solving.

What do you bring with you?

• You have solid leadership experience within green operations and preferably know the municipal sector from a similar position
• You are able to create overview and coherence between tasks at both the strategic and operational level
• You have experience with maintenance plans and quality descriptions
• You have a sharp eye for constructive solutions
• You are a natural and positive role model when there is a need to challenge the “comfort zone” culture
• You are curious about new methods and effective task solving
• You know that as a leader in a political system you must nurture good relationships and collaborate closely with the rest of the administration
• You are good at communicating in connection with citizen inquiries and councillor servicing
• You know that structure and plans are important to achieve goals

If you have knowledge within biodiversity, natural areas and care of protected natural areas, that would be an extra plus. The most important thing is that you are willing to learn.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment is as Operations Leader in Area Operations, Center for Areas and Properties. Salary and terms of employment are negotiated in accordance with applicable collective agreement and qualifications.

Center for Areas and Properties serves 55,000 residents and about 4,000 employees in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality.
