About the job

We are seeking a chief physician/senior consultant for the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital to cover both general and specialized functions. The position is currently linked to the section at Gentofte Hospital. The chief physician/senior consultant will be part of the department's overall team of specialists.

The Department of Nuclear Medicine consists of a section at Gentofte Hospital and three sections at Herlev Hospital; a section for nuclear medicine and clinical physiology, a cyclotron and radiochemistry section, and a PET section. The Gentofte section handles PET imaging, but also gamma camera examinations, distal blood pressure measurements, tilt-table testing, DXA scanning and ultrasound examinations. The section has four specialists and one training physician.

We are thus a small medical team where everyone helps one another and takes care of each other – and we value mutual sparring and learning highly in an open and respectful environment.

Herlev and Gentofte Hospital is one of the Region Hovedstadens acute hospitals and a large cancer hospital. Specialties internal medicine, breast surgery, oncology, orthopaedic surgery and urology are, together with general practice, the largest users of Gentofte section's examinations. The department works closely with the radiology department and with the referring clinical departments.

The department serves Herlev and Gentofte Hospital as well as other hospitals.

We offer

Employment in a department that is continually evolving, where all staff groups work closely together and where we focus on providing the best diagnostics and treatment. The large patient flow and the close relationship to the collaborating departments provide an obvious opportunity for ongoing learning, research and development. The Gentofte section has, in addition to the 5 doctors, 11 bioanalysts, 5 radiographers and attached 2-3 physicists.

Specific tasks

  • You will handle triage and description of the department's examinations
  • You will be responsible for one or more examinations in collaboration with colleagues
  • You will contribute to the development of the department's repertoire of examinations
  • You will manage MDT conferences
  • You will join a work environment with close collaboration with all staff groups

We expect that you

  • Are a specialist in clinical physiology and nuclear medicine
  • Have experience with both PET examinations as well as physiological examinations
  • Contribute to ensuring the department's continued development
  • Participate in the specialist training of chief residents, as well as doctors from other specialties
  • Have good qualifications in communication and the ability to collaborate both internally in the department and externally, which is highly valued, so that you can work closely with your nearest colleagues
  • Help ensure high quality in patient pathways in collaboration with the other staff groups and external partners

Terms of employment

The position is a full-time post and available from 1 January 2027 or by agreement.

Employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Regional Pay and Tariff Board and the Association of Specialist Doctors.

Applicants will be professionally assessed based on the applicant's information about their competencies within the seven competence areas corresponding to the seven roles in the specialist doctors scheme.
