Consultant physician with a psychiatric background sought for Denmark's prisons, Prison Sector West

The Prison Circle West is seeking a new department physician with a psychiatric background. In the role of psychiatric department physician in the Health Unit you will be responsible for the psychiatric treatment of the inmates on the facilities, the facilities Sdr. Omme Prison, Nr. Snede Prison, Møgelkær Prison, Aalborg Detention, as well as our small detention houses in the Central Jutland with primarily daytime presence on fixed agreed weekdays.

The primary triage/assessment is performed by the Health Unit's nurses, where on all facilities there are attached fixed nurses in the nursing clinic, who handle primary health care in collaboration with the department doctors on the facilities. In addition to collaboration with other health professionals, there may be collaboration with the prison's other professional groups e.g. prison guards, social workers and addiction treatment staff.

About us

The Health Unit is still a relatively newly established unit and has independent health professional leadership that, among other things, has the task of raising and ensuring the quality of health care across all facilities in Prison Circle West, while operations are optimized and made more efficient.

Salary and employment terms

Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the agreement for doctors in the State, entered into between the Ministry of Finance and Young Doctors and the related local agreements. In addition, allowances may be agreed depending on experience and qualifications.

The area of employment is Denmark's prisons, Prison Circle West. You will become part of the Health Unit, which organizationally belongs to the West Circle Office, Mosevej 5b, 8240 Risskov.

It is a

37-hour position

hours with presence on fixed agreed weekdays.

There will also be a need to handle minor psychiatric issues via email or telephone contact between you and the facility nurses, so a certain availability time for email dialogue, telephone dialogue, telemedicine consultations is included in the number of hours.

There is no on-call obligation, and only in very special and rare situations is urgent on-site presence required.
