About the job

Do you want to develop citizen-centered care at the future health and care sites?

We are building a new medical function for the health and care sites at Mid- and West Zealand Hospital. As the responsible specialist or chief physician you will have local medical responsibility and real influence on both clinical practice and new workflows. It is a unique opportunity to be involved from the start in a function that has not previously existed in this form.

Citizen-centered care with high professional standards

In the new model SOP will have a daily regional medical function with supervision and ongoing adjustment of the treatment plan, while the patient remains under regional medical treatment responsibility. Upon discharge from SOP there must be a clear and safe medical handover to the patient's regular general practitioner. The region also takes over the overall responsibility for quality and competence development at SOP, including the development of the nursing staff's competencies.

Your role

You will be the responsible specialist or chief physician with medical responsibility at the health and care sites in the four municipalities belonging to the Mid- and West Zealand Hospital catchment area. The concrete affiliation and task distribution are planned based on the overall organization and staffing. You have the daily medical leadership and actively participate in clinical work. The role entails both physical presence at SOP and use of telemedicine solutions, including virtual assessments and conferences, when clinically relevant.

  • ensure stable medical operations, continuity and clear task distribution
  • assess and treat patients with complex acute and chronic issues
  • supervise the other doctors and be responsible for medical teaching and staff competence development
  • know the other SOP units and their workflows and contribute to mutual coverage during holidays and illness, physically or via telemedicine
  • develop safe physical and telemedicine workflows and share experiences across SOP units

Collaboration is part of the treatment

You work closely with center management, nurses, social and health assistants and therapists as well as with general practice, municipal functions, the Emergency Department and relevant hospital departments.

Education and competence development

An important part of your role is to strengthen the clinical competencies of the staff. This happens in daily practice through sparring, joint assessments and learning in concrete patient pathways and through more structured teaching and professional follow-up. You plan and develop the effort together with center management and the clinical development nurses at the individual SOP and you collaborate on shared competence development across SOP units and the Emergency Department.

Who are you

You are a specialist with broad clinical experience. General practice and geriatrics are particularly relevant, but other internal medicine specialties, acute medicine, neurology or another profile can also provide the necessary clinical breadth.

It is an advantage if you have experience with and competencies within home treatment, virtual treatment or other telemedicine solutions.

We emphasize that you

  • can make independent and well-balanced clinical decisions for frail and multimorbid patients
  • want to combine professional leadership, supervision and competence development with an active clinical role
  • work respectfully and concretely across professional groups and organizational boundaries
  • have the right mindset to build a new function and thrive with the fact that not all workflows are finished in advance

What we offer

  • a new clinical function with professional independence and real influence
  • close interdisciplinary collaboration and the opportunity to develop competencies around the patients
  • a common medical environment around SOP with organizational base in the Emergency Department

Employment and workplace

The appointment is linked to the Emergency Department at Mid- and West Zealand Hospital, while the main task is SOP. Clinical work in the Emergency Department can be included by individual agreement, but is not required. Employment level and workplace are agreed further.
