Pedagogical Leader for the Daycare Services in the Tommerup Area

At Himmelrummet Childcare, we are seeking, from January 1, 2026, a new pedagogical leader who will show the way and create good frameworks for the daily pedagogical work.

Who we are The day-care facilities in the Tommerup area consist of three units for children aged 0-6 years under the same management: the Daycare, Himmelrummet Childcare, and Overmarksgården Childcare. In total we are roughly 55 employees.

Himmelrummet Childcare consists of a nursery, normed to 12 children, and a kindergarten, normed to 57 children. The nursery is housed at Stenløkkevej and shares the building with the Daycare’s playrooms, while the kindergarten is housed at Teglbakken. Both houses are centrally located in Tommerup Station Town, close to Talerup School.

Our pedagogical work is based on relational pedagogy with a focus on recognition, presence and care. We work with age-integrated groups and place emphasis on both the younger and the older community.

We have a pedagogical advisor employed, who in close collaboration with staff and parents supports children's well-being and development. This happens both through preventive efforts and in established collaborations with external partners.

We have an active parent association and an engaged board, which together with the staff has helped develop a common set of values. The next step is implementation – a process you will play a central role in.

The job As a pedagogical leader, your role alternates between professional leadership, operations and staff management as well as lighter administrative tasks. Most of your working time will be spent with your feet in the daily pedagogical practice, where you provide professional leadership in and of pedagogical practice and support the staff in their pedagogical development.

You report to the area manager and become part of a leadership team that sets direction and works on development and coherence across the campuses.

A central role in Himmelrummet’s development

At Himmelrummet we are in the midst of a development process and are seeking both new competent staff and a pedagogical leader who will lead the work to create a professionally and pedagogically strong culture and practice, and set the direction for Himmelrummet.

You will become the pedagogical leader for a relatively new staff team and will play a central role in shaping Himmelrummet’s future profile.

Over the years we have worked to implement a pedagogical foundation built on Relationships, Professionalism and Responsibility. We expect you to enter respectfully and participate in further developing this in close collaboration with the pedagogical staff and the pedagogical advisor. Some of the key words in this process are "to want something with children" , "to be in interaction with children" and "adult participation and positioning" , which we expect you to support and help translate into pedagogical practice.

We want to stand on a solid relational foundation and place a high emphasis on collaboration.

Your tasks and opportunities

Our current stance requires that the development of the daily pedagogical practice at Himmelrummet becomes your highest priority. This task is carried out in close cooperation with the area manager and the pedagogical advisor.

In addition, the job includes meeting leadership and facilitation of staff meetings, parent meetings, conversations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary partners.

You shall loyally ensure common goals and initiatives in line with the Municipality of Assens’ strategies and policies.

You will become an important part of implementing the municipality’s common ICDP certification in practice and participate in the municipality’s network for pedagogical leaders. There is also the possibility for professional development over time.

We ensure that you receive solid onboarding both locally and in the municipality.

Who you are You are a trained pedagogue, academically grounded and preferably with experience from the 0-6-year age group. You may already have leadership experience or the desire and potential to take the next step in your career.
