About the job

Do you want to help build the language school of the future on Lolland?

At Lolland Language School we believe that good teaching can change people’s opportunities. Every day we meet participants who want to learn Danish, complete an education, gain a foothold in the labour market or create a new life in Denmark.

Therefore we are seeking an engaged and development-oriented pedagogical leader who is passionate about learning, teaching and leadership, and who can contribute to our participants receiving high-quality teaching and learning environments that support both progression and wellbeing.

As a consequence of the school’s growth and a new organization, we strengthen the management with a newly created position as pedagogical leader. You therefore get a unique opportunity to help shape both the role and the continued development of Lolland Language School.

About us

Lolland Municipality is in a period of significant development with large investments, business development and attracting international labour. Projects such as the Fehmarn Belt fixed link and the general growth in business mean that more and more international employees and their families settle in the area. This increases the need for strong language and integration offerings and at the same time places high demands on quality, flexibility and innovation in teaching.

Lolland Language School plays an important role in this development by supporting that new citizens become an active part of work, education and community life.

We work from a shared ambition to deliver high-quality teaching and guidance and to create the best possible framework for learners’ learning, progression and wellbeing. At the same time we continuously develop our teaching offerings and organization to match the needs of both learners, businesses and partners. We believe that the best results are created when leadership, administration and teachers take joint responsibility for the core task and collaborate across the organization.

About the position

As a pedagogical leader you will be part of the school’s management team and report to the language school principal.

The position has been created to strengthen professional and pedagogical leadership close to teaching. You will play a central role in developing the quality of teaching, supporting staff’s professional practice and ensuring that our learners get the best possible outcome from their teaching programme.

You will not have personnel responsibility, as this is still handled by the language school principal. Instead, you will have a significant professional and pedagogical leadership responsibility in daily work and are expected to step in during the leader’s absence.

Your main tasks

  • Professional and pedagogical leadership of the teachers.
  • Leadership and development of teacher teams and academic communities.
  • Sparring, guidance and support of staff’s professional development.
  • Responsibility for module tests and exams within Danish education as well as FVU level tests.
  • Responsibility for timetable planning and substitute coverage.
  • Support for learners’ learning, progression and wellbeing through development of teaching quality.
  • Development of the school’s FVU efforts and implementation of new initiatives and development tasks.
  • Contribute to a strong shared working environment and cross-cutting collaboration between teachers, administration and management.

We imagine that you

  • Have completed Diploma in Danish as a Second Language (DAV) or a master’s in Danish as a second language (MAV).
  • Have teaching experience within Danish education and/or FVU.
  • Have a diploma in leadership or a desire and motivation to start a leadership education.
  • Have strong pedagogical and didactic competences.
  • Take natural leadership and can create followers through clarity, trust and involvement.
  • Have an eye for the connection between staff practice and learners’ learning, wellbeing and outcomes.
  • Thrive in the the interface between operations, development and strategy.
  • Have the courage to make decisions, set direction and follow up.
  • Are development-oriented and motivated to develop both people, teams and the organization.

We offer

  • A newly created leadership position with great opportunity for influence.
  • Opportunity to shape the development of a growing language school.
  • A close collaboration with the language school principal and dedicated staff.
  • An organization with high ambitions for both learners and staff.
  • Good opportunities for professional and personal development.
  • An workplace characterized by trust, openness and shared responsibility for the core task.

You do not need to have all the answers upfront. Instead, we expect you to be eager to learn, develop and take responsibility for both people and results.

With us you will have the opportunity to make a clear mark on a school with big ambitions, skilled staff and an important societal task. If you are motivated to develop people, create results through others and contribute to a strong learning environment, we would love to hear from you.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary according to applicable collective agreement and according to the principles of local pay formation.

The position is expected to be placed within a total salary range of approx. DKK 46,243.46 – 47,431.72 per month exclusive of pension and allowances. In addition, there is a pension of 17.30% + 1.70% in a flex allowance. Furthermore there will be the possibility of negotiating individual allowances based on relevant competences.

The position is full-time with earliest possible start or by agreement.

We have departments in both Maribo and Nakskov, so you should expect to commute to both departments.

We offer teaching in day and evening classes Monday to Friday and Saturday morning. Therefore, you can expect that part of your working time is planned in off-hours. Just as you, together with the language school principal, will enter into an arrangement where you are available by phone for staff during off-hours.
