Part-time Lecturer for the Academy Profession Programme in Outdoor Guidance

Nature is more than a backdrop. It is a learning space, a meeting place and a source of development. At the Academy Education in Outdoor Guidance we educate professionals who work with people in and through nature. Now we are seeking part-time teachers who will help shape the future outdoor guides.

We are looking for engaged instructors who can contribute with professional insight, practical experience and the desire to create meaningful learning experiences. As a part-time lecturer you become part of an academic environment where theory, reflection and experiential learning go hand in hand.

Your tasks will include teaching, supervision and examination of students on the Academy Education in Outdoor Guidance.

Who are you?

You have strong professional competencies within outdoor life, nature guiding, outdoor pedagogy or related areas, and you are motivated to share your knowledge with others.

You understand how learning can arise around the campfire, on the hike, in the canoe or through nature-based activities. At the same time you can articulate the experiences and connect them to professional theory and reflection.

We imagine that you

• have teaching experience and the ability to create engaging learning programs
• have practical experience with outdoor life, nature communication or guidance in nature
• can combine professionalism, didactics and practice in an inspiring way
• thrive in facilitating learning processes where participants actively bring their own experiences into play
• have an eye for safety, responsibility and sustainable use of nature
• have relevant educational qualifications at bachelor level.

Workplace

Teaching takes place primarily at our locations in Odense. In addition you should expect teaching in various nature and outdoor environments depending on the modules' content and organization.

Employment

Employment as a part-time lecturer on the Academy Education in Outdoor Guidance requires qualifications at bachelor level and practical experience gained through employment in the field.

The tasks every semester depend on the number of enrollments. Your total hours will typically be 300-500 hours per year. Since the teaching takes place on a part-time program, you should be prepared for the hours to be scheduled across weekdays.

The exact number of hours and tasks are agreed before each semester.

The employment is time-limited up to 3 years and takes place in accordance with Circular on the collective agreement for external lecturers and part-time teachers at professional colleges, the Danish School of Media and Journalism, vocational academies and maritime educational institutions etc. under the Ministry of Education and Research (Academics' negotiation area) or Circular on the collective agreement for external lecturers and part-time teachers at professional colleges, the Danish School of Media and Journalism and vocational academies etc. under the Ministry of Education and Research .

Your primary workplace will be UCL, Niels Bohrs Allé 1, 5230 Odense M. However, the workplace may vary, as we handle tasks across UCL's coverage area in the Region of Southern Denmark and at UCL's other campuses, including Boulevarden in Vejle.
