Part-time organist wanted for two cozy village churches outside Tølløse

Soderup and Kirke Eskilstrup churches are seeking a skilled and engaged organist for appointment on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible.

The position is in principle 16 hours per week with the possibility of individual negotiation of content and scope.

About the parish

Soderup and Kirke Eskilstrup constitute a lively two-church parish in Holbæk Deanery with about 2,400 inhabitants. The parishes are situated in an idyllic rural setting with good connections to both Holbæk and Roskilde. There is a joint church council.

Collaboration at the center

As organist you will be part of a small and dedicated team that works closely across professional groups. The aim is to give worshipers the best possible experience – both at the Sunday high mass, the church ceremonies and other occasions where the church provides the framework for people’s lives.

Musical community and freedom

We place emphasis on ongoing and open interaction between organist, singers and priest, so that the liturgical texts, mood and music hang naturally together. There are broad margins within both the classical and the rhythmic repertoire, so the music can contribute to a coherent experience of the church service or high mass.

We are looking for you who

• are familiar with the Danish Hymnbook, High School Hymnbook and the latest hymnbook supplements
• master both organ and piano
• have the desire and ability for close collaboration
• think creatively and have an eye for how music and text together can create a coherent worship service
• possibly is an organist/church musician student and desires a first job with room for professional development

Instruments

• Soderup Church: Organ by Starup & Søn from 1949 (seven stops, one manual and pedal)
• Kirke Eskilstrup Church: Organ by Poul-Gerhard Andersen from 1975 (seven stops, one manual and pedal)
• In both churches there are also smaller electric pianos

Service scope

There is alternation of high mass in the churches on Sundays. In addition, approximately annually the following are held:

• 22 funerals and burials
• 6–8 weddings
• 10–15 Saturday baptisms

In addition, three to four community song events during the year. There are also good opportunities for you to put your own mark on the position and help develop the musical life, whether through a adult choir, other musical activities or good ideas you want to carry out.

Worship services and other tasks are agreed in an individual framework agreement, which also covers weekends and holidays.

Terms of employment

Employment takes place by Soderup-Kirke Eskilstrup Parish Council located at Soderup Kirkevej 12, 4340 Tølløse.

Employment of a church musician will be covered by the Central Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10 and the organizational agreement between the City, Rural and Church Ministry and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 for church officials with core tasks as clerk, church and cultural worker or church musician and the corresponding protocol for church musicians.

Employment of an organist with a degree as “Church Musician with Organ and Choir Leadership” or an organist with PO degree falls under the Agreement between the City, Rural and Church Ministry and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010.

Organists with a church music degree or bachelor’s degree are covered by the protocol to the academic agreement regarding contractual employment of DOKS organists and permanent teachers at church music schools entered into between the Academics and the City, Rural and Church Ministry.

Current civil service organists have the right to retain their civil service status when employed with direct transition. In that case, the position must be classified.

The annual salary for a church musician is negotiated within the interval of 333,748–475,590 DKK (current prices). There is a duty-of-availability commitment to the position. The duty allowance amounts to 27,641 DKK annually (current prices).

OK allowance of 1,082 DKK (current prices).

An agreement on placement within the salary range is entered into between the parish council and the Danish Church Musicians Association before employment.

The annual salary for applicants with a church music candidate degree (DOKS) is negotiated according to the new salary-AC scale. That is, a gross salary between 363,169 DKK – 442,529 DKK annually (current prices).

There is a duty-of-availability commitment to the position. The duty allowance amounts to annually between 46,727–72,573 (current prices). Placement and duty allowances are provided according to seniority. In addition, a qualification and function allowance may be provided after local negotiation.

The annual salary for applicants with a church musician qualification in organ and choir leadership (formerly PO-organists) is negotiated according to the agreed basic salary step system. Basic Step 1 is 350,435 DKK annually (current prices) and Basic Step 2 is 368,189 DKK annually (current prices). Placement is based on seniority.

There is a duty-of-availability commitment to the position. The duty allowance amounts to annually 44,944 DKK (current prices) for service at 2-3 churches.

Salary, OK allowance and duty allowance are quota-based in accordance with the position’s employment fraction.
