Organist wanted for Risskov Church

Would you like to help set the direction for the music at Risskov Church – and create musical experiences that bring people together across generations?

We are seeking a dedicated and musically well-founded organist for a part-time position of 19 hours per week with commencement on January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

As our new organist, you will be part of a vibrant musical environment, where in close collaboration with the church’s full-time organist you will have the opportunity to shape and further develop the church’s musical profile. We place emphasis on musical quality, engagement, and the desire to explore the many possibilities of music in the life of the church.

About Risskov Parish and Church

Risskov is an attractive suburb of Aarhus with around 8,600 inhabitants, of which about 6,900 are members of the Folk Church. The parish is growing, and continued population growth is expected in the coming years.

Risskov Church is beautifully situated on Solbakken with a fantastic view over Aarhus Bay towards Djursland. The church has an attached parish house and churchyard and enjoys great interest and support from the parish residents.

In addition to services and liturgical acts, the church life offers a wide range of meetings and events, including concerts and music services.

Beside the church there are 2.75 priests and an experienced choir consisting of eight part-time singers – a double quartet.

About the organ

The church organ was built by Marcussen & Søn in 1978 and has 31 stops distributed over the Hauptwerk (main manual), Swell (swell manual) and Pedal, as well as four manuals with 2,000 set-stop combinations.

In interaction with the church’s fine acoustics, the instrument provides good opportunities for musical expression and makes it possible to work with almost all musical styles.

Your tasks

As organist you will have a daily routine that includes both traditional church-music tasks and the opportunity to put your own mark on the church’s musical activities.

Your primary tasks will be to

• Play at services, liturgical acts and meetings and lead the church’s professional choir (kantori).
• Contribute to developing and implementing musical activities for children and families.
• Participate in planning concerts and musical services.
• Contribute to developing and strengthening the musical professional environment in close collaboration with the church’s other organist.
• Mutual on-call commitment with the church’s full-time organist.

Employment terms and salary

Employment is on the applicable collective-agreement terms depending on the applicant’s education and qualifications.

Church musicians

The employment is covered by the Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10, as well as the organizational agreement between the Ministry of City, Rural and Church Affairs and CO10 – the Central Organization of 2010 for church officials with core tasks such as church clerk, church and cultural worker or church musician and the corresponding protocol for church musicians.

Annual salary is agreed within the interval of DKK 333,747 – DKK 475,590 (current kroner). There is a on-call commitment to the position. The on-call allowance amounts to DKK 27,641 per year (current kroner). The OK allowance amounts to DKK 1,082 (current kroner).

Organists with a degree as Church Musician with Organ and Choir Conducting (formerly PO-organists)

The employment is covered by the agreement between the Ministry of City, Rural and Church Affairs and CO10 – the Central Organization of 2010.

Annual salary is set according to the agreed base salary scale

• Base Level 1: DKK 350,435 per year (current kroner).
• Base Level 2: DKK 368,188 per year (current kroner).

Placement is based on seniority.

There is a on-call commitment to the position. The on-call allowance amounts to DKK 29,665 per year (current kroner) when serving at one church.

Additionally, depending on local negotiations, qualification and function allowances may be provided.

Organists with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in church music (DOKS)

The employment is covered by the protocol to the academic agreement on contract employment of DOKS organists and fixed teachers at church music schools, concluded between the Academics and the Ministry of City, Rural and Church Affairs.

Annual salary is set according to the Ny Løn-AC scale and amounts to between DKK 363,168 and DKK 442,528 per year (current kroner).

There is a on-call commitment to the position. The on-call allowance amounts to between DKK 46,729 and DKK 72,572 per year (current kroner). Placement and on-call allowance are determined by seniority.

Additionally, depending on local negotiations, qualification and function allowances may be provided.

Common for all employment groups

All salary figures are stated in current kroner and correspond to the annual full-time salary. Salary, OK allowance, and on-call allowance are pro-rated according to the position’s employment fraction of 19/37.

Current civil service organists have the right to retain their civil service status upon appointment with direct transfer. In such cases, the position must be classified.

There is a three-month probation period.
