About the job

Do you have a heart for children, and would you like to make a difference for a lovely little boy and his family?

We are seeking a warm-hearted, calm and present permanent substitute for 5-year-old Milaz in Osted, Lejre Municipality.

You will become an important part of a small team around Milaz and his foster family. Your primary task is to be safe, present and attentive to Milaz while giving his foster parents a well-deserved break.

There is the possibility of fixed hours, and the job can be ideal alongside studies or other work.

Shifts on both day, evening, night and weekend

Milaz attends kindergarten during the day, and the shifts therefore mainly cover

  • Afternoon
  • Evening
  • Night
  • Weekends

Shifts are planned according to the family’s needs and vary from week to week. However, they are planned well in advance so you know your shifts.

This also means the job can be a good opportunity for you who study or have another job, and who want flexible shifts while also having fixed hours.

Who is Milaz?

Milaz is a lovely little boy of 5 years who was born prematurely and has a severe brain injury. He has epilepsy, sees poorly and has no verbal language. He is developmentally far from his age, but he is a happy, calm and charming boy with lots of personality.

Milaz lives with his foster parents and foster brother in a house with a large garden where he loves to swing, among other things.

He loves music, singing, nature, riding and outings. He loves going to the swimming pool and trips to forests and water. Music is also a big part of his everyday life – including when he does motor exercises.

What is the job about?

Your main task is to be present together with Milaz and create a safe and good moment for him.

You should, among other things

  • Observe Milaz and be attentive to his signals and well-being
  • Help with personal care and bathing
  • Be present and create calm and security
  • Support him in training and communication exercises
  • Help with activities that suit his daily form and needs
  • Relieve the foster parents so they can have time and peace to themselves

There may also be opportunities for training in tube feeding, medication and inhalations.

You will be thoroughly trained in the health-related tasks, and you will not be assigned to anything before you feel confident.

An important part of the job is to get to know Milaz. He does not communicate with words, and therefore it is important that you become good at reading his facial expressions, signals and body language. In this way you can help him express wishes, needs and choices.

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • Are calm, caring and present
  • Preferably have experience with children with brain injuries and/or epilepsy
  • Can work independently
  • Are patient and good at observing
  • Would like to learn Milaz's signals and communication
  • Can adapt to his daily form and needs
  • Want to work with both care, nurture, training and activities

You can be unskilled with relevant experience, a social and health care assistant (SSH), a pedagogical assistant, or someone in training to become a pedagogue or within a health profession education.

The most important thing is not your title, but your approach to Milaz and your desire to make a difference.

You work in the family's home

Milaz lives with his foster family, so the work takes place in their private home in Lejre. The hours are also in the family's summer house in Kalundborg.

It is important that you

  • Thrive working in a private home
  • Can work independently
  • Respect the family’s routines and frameworks
  • Can be flexible when Milaz’s condition or the family’s needs change

Milaz is sensory-sensitive. Therefore the family is seeking an employee who is calm, non-smoker and avoids strong scents, e.g., perfume and strongly scented detergents, when you are at work.

What do you get?

As a permanent substitute with Olivia Danmark you get

  • Opportunity for fixed hours
  • Shifts on day, evening, night and weekend
  • Thorough training and ongoing support
  • A close collaboration around Milaz and the family
  • Salary according to the applicable FOA collective agreement including evening, night and weekend allowances

And not least, you get the opportunity to become an important and stable person in Milaz's everyday life.

Can you see yourself with Milaz?

Then we would love to hear from you!
