Platform engineer for Statens IT – development and operation of larger IT solutions

Statens IT (SIT) is seeking a Platform Engineer for Statens IT's Network Department. SIT’s Network Department is undergoing a visionary development towards running the majority of network operations in code. Do you have an interest in maintaining and further developing internal tools and automating deployment and operations processes? Then you could be the right fit for the job.

About the position Statens Its network department is in the process of a comprehensive development, where Infrastructure as Code, automation and data quality are central elements. We build tools that provide overview, automate workflows and connect our systems and data together.

We develop with an API-first approach and have a focus on open source technologies. Our backends are written in Python with FastAPI and PostgreSQL, while our frontends use Vue/Nuxt and TypeScript. We use Terraform and Ansible for network automation and develop our own Terraform providers in Go. Data and functionality are exposed through REST APIs and GraphQL, and Redis-based queues handle background tasks and longer-running workflows. The applications run in Docker containers, and we use DevContainers for our development environments as well as GitLab CI/CD for build, test and deployment.

As a Platform Engineer you will be part of a development team that works to establish and further develop a larger IT solution. You will be involved from development and testing to deployment and operations.

Your primary responsibilities

• Develop and maintain functionality on both frontend and backend in collaboration with the team
• Develop solutions aimed at both network administrators and directly to Statens Its customers.
• Write well-designed, testable and maintainable code according to common standards
• Participate in design, development, testing and deployment of new features
• Contribute to automation of build, test, deployment and operations tasks
• Troubleshoot and handle technical issues in both development and production environments

Your profile We are seeking a profile with 5+ years of experience from a large IT enterprise environment with a relevant IT education or equivalent experience. You have a strong technical understanding and passion for software development, as well as experience with modern development methods, version control and CI/CD. In addition you have a focus on quality, clean code, testability and good code discipline and take responsibility for your deliverables.

It is also an advantage if you have

• Experience with container technologies and cloud- or Enterprise environments
• Experience with operation, monitoring and troubleshooting of production systems
• Experience with fundamental networking infrastructure concepts

We are seeking full-time positions of 37 hours. We have offices in Aarhus, Aalborg, Sønderborg or Ballerup. If you are in Jutland, you may expect regular travel to Ballerup.
