What is Manelleh?

At Manelleh we sell interior, accessories and gifts, which are handmade by women. The purpose of the business is to make a difference for women around the world. All products are made at social fair trade companies. Every time you buy a product, you contribute to more women having decent, meaningful and dignified jobs.

At Manelleh we value craft traditions, unique and personal products that take time to make. We strive to sell products that harm the environment as little as possible. We prefer to work with materials that are upcycled, recycled and organic and that can last for many years into the future

The core of our business is that we work closely with all our partners around the world. In this way we know how each product is made, who it is made by, and what the women are paid. And thereby we ensure that the women have a responsible wage level and a proper working environment.

Who is behind it?

My name is Maria Manel Bøge, and I am the founder of Manelleh.

I have 20 years of experience working with communication, strategy and sustainability. I have previously been a manager in large international companies (e.g. ISS), a startup, a research center (KVINFO) and an NGO (Red Cross). For a period I was Director of CSR Fonden, whose purpose was to put CSR and sustainability on the agenda - nationally and globally.

I have a master's degree in communication from Aalborg University (2006), and in 2020 I completed an MBA at Henley Business School. Beside Manelleh I am part of the jury for FINANS IMPACT Awards.

What can Manelleh offer?

I can promise you that you will learn a lot during your internship. During your internship, it will primarily be you and me who work together – and you will get fun, quirky and challenging tasks – all related to creating value for a purpose-driven company. You will also work with an external marketing agency, freelancers and perhaps another intern.

Manelleh studio is located centrally right by Langebro and Islands Brygge. The studio is about 300 m2 and consists of showroom, office and warehouse. Every Thursday there is an open opportunity for customers to come and shop in our showroom and about every other month we hold an event.

What will you do during your internship?

Your primary task will be

• To contribute to and rethink the company’s communication and branding on social media, on our website and in the media
• To develop content for the company’s website & social media – in images, sound and video
• To contribute to a campaign from idea to execution
• To plan a physical event with focus on responsible and sustainable production
• To contribute to further developing online - business (Shopify webshop)

In addition you may participate in everything you want, e.g., to develop the business further, design new products, collaborate with existing partners in Bangladesh, create and gain an understanding of accounting.

… And the most important is actually your personality, your mindset and your approach to things.
