About the job

Do you want to work with financial management of research projects in an academically strong university environment?

The Faculty of Law at the University of Southern Denmark is seeking a project economist who can ensure professional and efficient financial administration of the faculty's externally funded research projects.

The faculty is in a development phase where external funding, solid project economics and a better basis for financial decision-making are becoming increasingly important. The position therefore offers the opportunity to work closely with concrete grants.

You will be part of the faculty secretariat, where we support research, education and leadership. The secretariat consists of dedicated employees with different administrative and professional competencies, and we place emphasis on collaboration, knowledge sharing and a good working environment.

Your primary tasks

At the Faculty of Law we work with a broad and growing project portfolio, which constitutes an increasingly important part of the faculty's overall economy. The projects range from public and private funds as well as national and international partners.

Your main task will be to support the faculty's researchers and management with financial management of externally funded projects.

Tasks include, among other things

  • preparation and follow-up of project budgets
  • financial administration of research projects
  • ongoing budget and accounts follow-up
  • advising researchers on financial aspects of the projects
  • reporting to external grantmakers
  • ensuring correct financial documentation and compliance with applicable rules and requirements
  • collaboration with the faculty's and the university's financial functions.

Contribution to management support

In addition to project economy, you will contribute to the institute's financial overview through the preparation of management information, analyses and follow-ups.

It could, for example, include

  • financial overviews and key figures
  • budget follow-up
  • data basis for managerial decisions
  • development and improvement of workflows and reporting tools.

This part of the task is expected to develop in line with your competencies and the institute's needs.

We imagine that you

  • have a relevant financial education, preferably at AC level, or equivalent experience with financial management, analytics and budget work.
  • have experience with financial and budget follow-up
  • work in a structured way and pay attention to detail
  • can handle several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • are a strong user of Excel and have a flair for financial systems, data extraction and digital reporting tools
  • enjoy providing service and advice to various stakeholders
  • communicate clearly and professionally both orally and in writing
  • have an interest in working with data, analyses and development of financial processes.

It would be an advantage if you have experience with project accounting, research funding or working in a larger public organization, but it is not a requirement.

Working language is both Danish and English, and you must be able to operate confidently in both languages in writing and speaking.

You will be organizationally placed in the secretariat of the Faculty of Law.

We offer

You will get a position with great variation in tasks and close contact with researchers, management and administrative colleagues.

With us you will have the opportunity to

  • become a central sparring partner in the work with research projects
  • develop your competencies within project economy and financial management
  • contribute to the development of the institute's administrative support
  • participate in an informal and collaborative working environment.

Contact and application deadline

If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact the acting secretariat leader Malene Lyngbo Møller at [email protected] or telephone 9350 7062.

The application deadline is Tuesday, 3 November 2026 at 23:59:59.

We expect to conduct interviews on 11 November 2026.
