about the job

As a project manager at Arkil in Sønderborg you will have a varied and responsible daily life, where you take ownership of your projects from the very first calculations to the final delivery. You will be responsible for driving exciting tasks within technically demanding areas such as sewers, road construction, district heating, electricity and fiber cables.

A central and important part of your role will be the estimating work, as the department specifically needs a profile to calculate and provide bids for new projects. Here you have the opportunity to shape the projects from the bid phase and ensure that the financial foundation and schedule are realistic from the start. This will take place in close cooperation with the department head, and you will have the opportunity to draw on the expertise of the department’s other staff.

When projects move into the execution phase, it is you who ensures the overall progress. You will be responsible for managing for both economy, time and quality assurance (KS) on the individual cases, which typically have a size range of 5-15 million kroner. You will often be responsible for 1-2 cases in parallel, which allows you to go into depth with the tasks and ensure high quality at all levels.

The daily on-site management takes place in close and trusting collaboration with a foreman, and you will act as the client’s primary contact person throughout the process. In addition, you will be responsible for entering into agreements with subcontractors and negotiating with other suppliers to ensure the best solutions for the projects.

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive person who thrives on maintaining an overview and always tries to stay ahead of the challenges that can arise in projects. You have a structured approach to work and naturally think in optimizations and alternative solutions.

We imagine that you

• Have a practical background from the construction industry. A specific formal education is less important than your practical experience, and a relevant background from the build sector is also welcome.
• Have experience with – or practical knowledge of – construction tasks such as sewers, district heating, fiber or gas lines.
• Have experience and the desire to handle estimating tasks from bid to delivery.
• Have strong communication skills with all levels in the organization, thrive at the intersection between client and foremen, and have the courage to have the tough conversations when required.
