About the job

ENTREPRENEUR WITH IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION

Obyg specializes in contracting and building services with a dedicated in-house production team in carpentry and masonry. The core competence is built on proud craftsmanship traditions combined with values such as reliability, integrity, and timeliness. Obyg consists of about 70 dedicated carpenters and bricklayers, 13 apprentices, and 10 office staff. The contracting department carries out tasks in partial, main, and total contracts - for both public and private clients.

INTRODUCTION

Obyg is growing and seeks an experienced project manager who can ensure progress and execution on construction projects within large, main, and total contracts. At Obyg you work in a contracting company with strong in-house production within the carpentry and masonry trades. This means high presence on the projects, short decision paths, and close collaboration between project management and execution. It demands from you as a project manager and also provides a significantly greater degree of autonomy.

You will have a central role with responsibility for progress, quality, and economy and a real ownership of the projects’ completion.

THE POSITION

As a project manager at Obyg, your primary task is to ensure stable progress and consistent execution in the production phase of the projects. A substantial part of the role is the collaboration with in-house production, where you work closely with the craftsmen on site and ensure that the plan and execution align in practice.

The role has a clear focus on progress, control, and execution, as well as ensuring that plans hold up in practice. You are responsible for creating structure, making decisions, and following up consistently so that the projects are completed as agreed and without unnecessary deviations. Your main tasks include, among others:

  • Ensuring progress in the projects through planning, follow-up, and timely decisions.
  • Management of main- and total contracts from start-up to handover with a focus on production and execution.
  • Close collaboration with clients, consultants, authorities, and subcontractors.
  • Responsibility for financial, time, and quality management.
  • Coordinating across disciplines and ensuring a well-functioning project team.
  • Handling risks and contributing to value-creating solutions.

The daily management of the project organization is a central element of the role. You set the direction for the project, follow up on agreements, and ensure that all parties involved work toward the same goals. The tasks range from ongoing quality and financial follow-up to handover-related activities – always with a focus on production functioning efficiently and professionally.

You will become part of a strong department with experienced project, construction, and contracting managers, where professional sparring and clear roles are a natural part of the collaboration. On a daily basis you report to the section head at Obyg and have a wide network within the organization.

YOUR PROFILE

You are an experienced project manager with a strong grasp of production and enjoy responsibility for progress and completion. You work structurally, make decisions in good time, and follow up so that projects move forward — even under pressure. You would preferably have a background as a craftsman and are used to working closely with execution, where collaboration with both in-house production and subcontractors is crucial for the result. In addition, we expect that you:

  • Have a relevant technical background as a building engineer or building constructor.
  • Have a crafts background as a carpenter.
  • Have experience with managing in-house production and subcontractors.
  • Preferably have several years of experience in a similar role as construction/project manager.
  • Are strong in collaboration and communication in an informal organization.
  • Are strong in building regulations and the terms of construction contracts.
  • Have knowledge and insight into contract negotiation and ongoing contact/control of subcontractors.
  • Possess good business sense and have a solid understanding of financial management.
