About the job

We are seeking a psychologist with professional qualification (clinical psychologist) for our multidisciplinary team and offer an exciting specialty where the relationship and interdisciplinary collaboration are in focus with a view to ensuring coherent and highly qualified patient pathways.

We work on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and offer the possibility of some home-working days and flexible hours.

In the Multidisciplinary Pain Center we work with pain treatment for people with chronic, complex non-mmalignant pain.

Our aim is to create respectful relationships in meeting patients and among staff - integrity and trust are the foundation of our work.

In the Multidisciplinary Pain Center we are a team consisting of nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, social worker and secretaries. Together we create coherent patient pathways and offer multidisciplinary treatment efforts of high quality targeted at the individual patient.

We work from the bio-psycho-social model, with a high degree of non-pharmacological treatment options.

Our consultations with patients take place partly in person, but also virtually via video calls and via telephone calls.

We are seeking a clinical psychologist and a new colleague who, in addition to being professionally engaged, also demonstrates an appreciative approach and a willingness to collaborate cross-disciplinarily. We would like you as a psychologist to have experience working with people who have chronic disorders, including preferably familiarity with working with chronic pain patients.

The psychologist's tasks include among other things

  • Evaluative conversations with patients to identify psychological issues related to the chronic pain condition and to assess whether the patient could profit from a psychology program in the Pain Center.
  • Counseling with patients focusing on, among other things, psychoeducation, management of chronic pain, resources and redirection.
  • Identify patients in need of psychiatric assessment, e.g. severe depression, or other signs of another form of psychopathology, e.g. personality disorder or PTSD, which currently obstructs treatment in the Pain Center. In such cases possibly prepare referrals to psychiatry, in cooperation with the treating physician.
  • Care of education/facilitation at our patient education, including psychoeducation about the emotional and cognitive consequences of chronic pain, coping with these, working with acceptance, more balanced resource management and facilitation of patients' mutual information exchange.
  • Participation in cross-sector conferences with psychiatry and the Clinic for sequelae, as well as with municipal caseworkers in connection with patients’ job-clearing processes.
  • Possibly preparing statements to the municipality regarding patients in municipal programs that can complement status declarations from the treating physician, where deemed relevant.

Personal and professional competencies

  • Preferably experience with psychological pain treatment in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Broad experience with the most commonly used psychotherapeutic directions and methods in relation to pain treatment.
  • Preferably experience with health education, guidance and teaching.
  • Ability to communicate and convey in a mature, constructive and understandable manner.
  • Knowledge of the Health Platform, but this is not a requirement.
  • Active and engaged in humane relationships.
  • Good collaboration skills, an appreciative approach and willingness to engage in broad multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Methodically flexible and able to adapt the intervention to the individual patient
  • Demonstrate engagement and flexibility in task solving with the patient as the focal point.
  • Will and ability for professional and personal development.
