About the job

The Radiology Department offers a chief physician position in an exciting, complex and dynamic department;

  • Where the patient is the focus
  • Where professional quality and education are given high priority
  • Where multidisciplinary collaboration has a particular focus
  • Where good working relationships internally and externally are highly valued
  • Where the staff are engaged and have high professional competence
  • Where the culture is characterised by trust and respect.

You will have responsibility for the radiological area and its development. Your work will take place in close collaboration with the other staff of the Radiology Department, as well as the physicians in both the Medical and Surgical Area.

The area of work is very broad, exciting and challenging – with diseases that are rarely seen elsewhere.

You will report to the Head of the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Unit.

The position is available for immediate filling or by agreement. The position is essentially permanent, but do not let that deter you if you are considering applying for a fixed-term post.

We offer

  • A well-functioning department with engaged staff
  • Varied everyday life in a multicultural environment where you can influence development
  • On-call duties from home
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with the entire Greenland (15 coastal hospitals)
  • Membership of an active staff department

We are looking for you who

  • Are a specialist in radiology with a solid professional and broad background
  • Take an active part in the responsibility for optimum operation and quality, taking into account economic resources and staff utilization
  • Are visionary and want to engage and help create development
  • Are ready for challenges and prepared to work in a health service where things are done differently

About us

Queen Ingrids Hospital has a nationwide function and receives both acute and elective patients from all of Greenland.

The hospital has 190 beds distributed across the four areas, including 85 beds in the patient hotel for patients from the coast.

The Radiology Department in Nuuk is Greenland's main radiology department and we perform conventional radiographic examinations, ultrasound, CT, MR, fluoroscopy, mammography as well as diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

The entire radiology area is fully digitised and all X-ray images taken on the coast are automatically transmitted to the radiology department in Nuuk and all clinicians across Greenland can, via Sectra, view X-ray images/descriptions on their computer, just as there is a direct link to the Capital Region of Denmark and here specifically Rigshospitalet.

MR and CT coronary are described by Rigshospitalet, just as we have mammography teams from Denmark to perform these about every 6 weeks. We have daily drop-in times for patients from the health centre.

We receive acute patients daily from the emergency department and we examine traumas from across Greenland. We also have collaboration with TMC for descriptions of radiographic examinations.

The department performs approximately 17,000 examinations per year, including about 3,500 CT scans, 1,200 MR scans and about 2,000 ultrasound examinations.
