About the job

Do you want to work with people with chronic, complex pain in a highly specialized interdisciplinary environment where the patient’s overall life situation is central? The Interdisciplinary Pain Center is seeking a dedicated and professionally curious resident doctor for a one-year, on-call-free and non-classified position.

As a resident doctor with us you will become part of a highly specialized outpatient service, where different disciplines work closely together on people with chronic, complex pain.

You will have the opportunity to gain experience with interdisciplinary pain treatment while becoming part of an environment where clinical practice, development, teaching and research go hand in hand.

About the Interdisciplinary Pain Center

The Interdisciplinary Pain Center is part of the Department of Anesthesia, Pain and Respiratory Support under the Neurological Center at Rigshospitalet. We treat patients with chronic, complex non-malignant pains and work from a bio-psycho-social understanding of pain, where the person is seen in their total life situation rather than solely through physical symptoms.

Doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers and health administration staff work closely together to create coherent and meaningful patient pathways.

Our culture is characterized by high professionalism, reflection, curiosity and a desire to develop. We continually work on developing our offers, organization and workflows with attention to both the individual patient’s needs, the relevant professional input and a sensible use of the health care system’s total resources.

Our ambition is simple, but demanding

The right effort, to the right extent, at the right time, for the right person.

At the same time, the Interdisciplinary Pain Center is part of the development toward the Region of Zealand. We want to stand strong as a highly specialized service for people with the most complex pain problems while contributing to professional collaboration, knowledge sharing and development of the pain field across the region.

A special opportunity to influence development

The Interdisciplinary Pain Center is in an exciting development phase where we work to strengthen the quality of patient pathways and further develop our outpatient offering based on the ambitions for the Future Ambulatory Clinic.

As a resident doctor you will therefore not only be part of the clinical treatment. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our offer and to how we in the future plan good and meaningful pathways for people with chronic pain.

Your responsibilities

As a resident doctor you will among other things

  • Manage independent outpatient patient pathways
  • Perform medical assessment and treatment of patients with chronic, complex pain
  • Work from a bio-psycho-social understanding of chronic pain
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary assessments and treatment pathways
  • Collaborate closely with the center’s other professional groups
  • Contribute to teaching, professional development and knowledge sharing
  • Have the opportunity to involve yourself in research and development activities
  • Contribute to the center’s continued development and the work with the Future Ambulatory Clinic.

We are looking for you who

  • Are a physician and at the time of appointment have completed an introductory post in anesthesiology, neurology, general medicine, psychiatry, social medicine or public health
  • Have an interest in treating people with chronic, complex pain
  • Are eager to work from a bio-psycho-social understanding of pain
  • Thrive in an interdisciplinary environment and see the value of different professional perspectives
  • Are curious, listening and interested in the patient’s total life situation
  • Are keen to contribute to teaching, development and professional reflection
  • Work independently and structured and at the same time see collaboration as a prerequisite for high quality
  • Want to be part of a developing environment.

Competence in research, innovation and teaching will be an advantage.

We offer

  • A one-year, on-call-free and non-classified position
  • Work in a highly specialized clinical area
  • Thorough and individually tailored introduction to the pain field
  • Your own outpatient clinic and the possibility for independent clinical work
  • Close collaboration with dedicated colleagues from several disciplines
  • An environment with high professionalism, reflection and different professional perspectives
  • Opportunity to participate in teaching, development and research activities
  • Opportunity to actively contribute to the development of the Interdisciplinary Pain Center and the Future Ambulatory Clinic
  • A workplace where we share the task and dare to think differently.
