About the job

Can you see a story and quickly figure out how it should live on social media? Do you know why something works on Instagram but falls completely through on Facebook? And are you eager to use your social media skills on some of the biggest humanitarian agendas – both in Denmark and around the world?

Then you might be the one we’re looking for.

The Red Cross has stories and agendas every day that deserve to be seen - from wars and disasters to loneliness, communities and volunteering here at home.

We are looking for a Social Media Manager who can both keep an editorial overview and help develop the content that makes people pause.

What you will do

The work alternates between planned content, larger campaigns and agendas that emerge quickly. Sometimes we have plenty of time to develop a format or concept. Other times something happens in the morning that we must be able to respond to the same day.

You will, among other things,

  • have the editorial and tactical overview of our social channels
  • develop ideas, concepts and content together with our content team for daily communication and larger campaigns
  • translate stories and agendas into content that fits the individual platform
  • write and edit sharp and engaging texts
  • spot current opportunities and formats that the Red Cross can relevantly connect to
  • plan and publish content
  • have overall responsibility for monitoring and moderating our channels and keep an eye out for potential communication crises
  • measure the effort and use data to make our content better.

So you don’t just keep track of a content plan. You will help figure out what we should tell and how we get people to pause.

Who you are

You have solid experience with social media and understand the different platforms. You keep up because you are curious, not because someone has written it into your job description. You have an eye for the good story, write confidently and vividly and can make complex messages simple and relevant.

You might come from an organization, an agency, a media outlet or a marketing department. Your educational background could be communication, journalism, marketing or something entirely different.

The most important thing is that you understand social media as a creative and strategic discipline and want to use it for something that matters.

Who are we?

You will become part of the Media Team at the Red Cross. We are eight specialists who work with digital communication and marketing across owned and paid channels, including social media, digital advertising, fundraising and volunteer recruitment.

We have high professional ambitions, short paths from idea to action and a culture where there is room to challenge each other, try new things and have fun along the way.

We offer

At the Red Cross you have the opportunity to use your profession on stories and agendas that matter.

You will have great responsibility and the opportunity to influence how one of Denmark’s largest organizations works with social media.

And you will become part of the world’s largest humanitarian movement, where communication is not only about attention but also about getting people to engage, become volunteers and support people in need.

The position is a full-time maternity leave cover until 15 October 2027 . You will be hired under the Red Cross’s collective agreement terms, aligned with the state collective agreement. Salary placement depends on experience and qualifications. If you have questions, you are welcome to contact Media Chief Robin Bernitt-Wolf at [email protected] or phone 61 13 03 94.

Application deadline: 18 October

Expected start: 1 December

We look forward to hearing from you.
