Safety Manager

Do you want to help set the direction for safety in one of the world’s most complex airlines?

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager who can further develop our Safety Management System and strengthen the safety culture across the organization.

You will play a central role as an adviser to the Chief Operating Officer/Accountable Manager and will work closely with management, operational and technical functions, authorities and external partners. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer/Accountable Manager.

Your key tasks

• Establish and develop a robust and competent safety department.
• Develop, improve and maintain our overall Safety Management System and related processes, with the aim of supporting the accountable manager in the overall safety work at Air Greenland.
• Facilitate proactive risk management across the operation as well as monitor and assist NPs with guidance on mitigating risks, both in day-to-day operations and during larger changes.
• Promote an open reporting culture based on Just Culture, a good feedback culture and organizational learning.
• Coordinate and conduct internal investigations with a focus on learning and prevention.
• Analyse safety data and report significant risks and trends to the Accountable Manager, and recommend internal restrictions or other safety-related measures when deemed necessary.
• Support the Safety Review Board and Safety Action Group with monitoring of safety performance and relevant SPIs, including recommendations for focus and prioritization.
• Coordinate and develop the company’s Emergency Response Program.
• Monitor the company’s Flight Data Monitoring program, and develop the effectiveness, integrity and use of data with a view to maintaining a high level of safety while ensuring confidentiality and independence of data.

About you

We expect that you

• Have solid experience with Safety Management Systems, risk management, management of change and investigations
• Have proven experience as Safety Manager and in leadership
• Have strong analytical and communication skills
• Possess high integrity, assertiveness and professional credibility
• Approach work and colleagues with curiosity and human and professional respect
• Have relevant education or equivalent professional experience
• Have excellent English skills and preferably speak Danish or Greenlandic.

Experience from a complex AOC organization, in-depth knowledge of EASA legislation, as well as knowledge of IOSA and BARS standards is a significant advantage.
