About the job

Would you like to help support the work to prevent and counter threats to Denmark and Danish interests? If you have a sharp pen and a passion for ministerial support, we offer meaningful tasks for the benefit of the realm’s security – and not least good colleagues.

About us

Europe and Denmark are in a heightened security-political situation, and the Danish defence is undergoing a comprehensive strategic transformation that entails a historic strengthening. Security for Denmark and Danes in an increasingly complex threat landscape means there is a need to accelerate the build-up of the Armed Forces' combat power, procure materiel for multi-billion amounts, strengthen international alliances – not least NATO – and strengthen the defence in the Arctic and the North Atlantic.

Intelligence Service is part of the Operations Division, which among other things is responsible for international and national operations and the intelligence domain. The office is the ministerial office for the Danish Defence Intelligence Service, which is Denmark's foreign and military intelligence service. We handle cases concerning intelligence and threat assessments, security-political briefings, the Government's Security Committee and the Committee on Intelligence Services. The office's areas of responsibility include, among other things, the cyber domain, hybrid threats and space-related matters.

About the position

You will experience an exciting and meaningful daily life in a dynamic environment with strong political and managerial attention. The tasks are varied in time, scope and content. You will experience periods of high workload where there will be a need for you to be available outside normal working hours. Because many of the cases contain highly classified information that requires physical presence, the possibility for home working is very limited.

Your duties will depend on your competencies and background, but may include

  • Classic civil service tasks, including committee responses, § 20 questions and preparation of working papers.
  • Assuming responsibility for briefings on concrete threats and intelligence.
  • Responsible for advocacy on relevant areas in NATO and the EU.
  • Ensure coordination and prioritization of cases with other security ministries etc.
  • Strategic development projects, current political issues and press responses.

We value an inclusive and social working environment in the office. We have an informal tone and a good culture for helping and sparring with each other.

About you

Both experienced and recent graduates can be considered. It is an advantage to have experience from a politically governed organization, preferably a ministry. For the experienced candidate we also see it as a strength if you have previously engaged with security policy, the intelligence domain, cyber and/or defense. You may also have a military professional background combined with relevant experience.

To succeed in the role it is essential that you take independent responsibility within your own case area and are able to convey complex professional content in a simple and easy-to-understand way in writing and speaking in both Danish and English. You have a well-developed political sense, are initiative-taking, collaborative and bring your knowledge and competences into play. Foresight, resilience and the ability to maintain an overview of complex cases are important qualities.

You take responsibility for your tasks and think long-term - for the benefit of Denmark's security.

Terms of employment

If you apply for the position as civilian, you must be a trained academic and will be employed and paid according to the current academic agreement between the Ministry of Finance and academics in the state. Depending on qualifications, there may also be the opportunity to negotiate supplements. The position is linked to an employer-funded pension scheme of 18.07%

If you apply for the position as an officer, the position is filled according to the protocol to the state academics collective agreement for officers under the Ministry of Defence. The position is placed in pay grade 5, which includes majors and naval captains.

If you are already employed in the Ministry of Defence's Group, you will continue to be employed under the applicable agreements between the Defence Ministry's Personnel Agency and the Danish Officers' Association regarding the pay and terms of service for civil servants or unionized officers in the Defence.

As an employee in the Ministry of Defence's group you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment. In this position you must be able to obtain a security clearance to TOP SECRET.

If you would like to know more about pay and employment terms, you are welcome to contact HR consultant Toke Rasmussen at tel.: 32 66 59 91.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!

If you want to know more about the position, you are welcome to contact Deputy Head Morten Mosegaard Schiellerup Bager at tel.: 4033 4779.

Application deadline 18 October 2026.

We will ask you to submit CV, a motivated application and relevant exam transcripts via the link. If it is not possible for you to scan and attach relevant documents, you may bring them to an interview.
