About the job

Do you thrive with varied tasks that require you to combine your leadership skills with ensuring efficient operations within the work injury and veteran area? Then you may be our new section head.

About the position

As the head of the Work Injury and Compensation section, you will lead about 20 dedicated employees.

The section handles work injury and compensation cases for the entire defense. The primary task is therefore concrete case handling. In addition, we have a number of general tasks such as drafting memoranda, pre-drafting legislative work, answering parliamentary questions, supervising the Danish Labour Market Insurance, and external teaching tasks.

We are very aware that we have a special obligation to the current and former defense employees who have been injured. As section head, you ensure a high quality level is maintained, and you actively keep your finger on the pulse regarding case intake, case queues, and our overall production. You can engage in genuine dialogue about legal challenges and make principled decisions in stuck cases.

The section’s employees range from highly specialized experienced consultants to relatively newly educated staff. The management task therefore requires you to both show a high degree of trust and, by guiding and supporting, help each employee succeed.

Your primary tasks will include, among other things, the following

  • lead the section’s employees so they thrive and develop in daily work,
  • create an even stronger focus on efficiency in case handling so our veterans and soldiers receive faster responses from us,
  • support and maintain the existing high professional standard in task execution,
  • look at our workflows and process descriptions with fresh eyes,
  • have a strong and approachable view on what our injured veterans and soldiers need from us,
  • continue and strengthen cooperation and relationships with both internal and external partners

You will join the center’s cross-cutting leadership team, where there are 7 other section heads and 3 center heads with whom you can spar, and we will help you quickly settle into the job. You will also have a very close partnership with the head of the area.

About you

We expect that you

  • have a legal background and knowledge of operations management,
  • are particularly attentive to employees’ well-being and recognize when employees exert extra effort,
  • enjoy taking responsibility and setting direction,
  • through structured and proactive follow-up ensure steady progress in daily case processing,
  • can build good relationships,
  • want to actively participate in the cross-cutting leadership group in the center

Experience in the work injury area is a big advantage, but not a condition.

About us

We place great emphasis on strong internal and external collaboration. You will become part of a collegial environment with a humorous and informal tone, where we often share a good laugh and have a strong sense of togetherness.

We have a very flexible work arrangement, the possibility of telework, shared facilities, canteen, gym, etc.

Conditions of employment

The workplace is located in Ballerup with good parking facilities and good connections by public transport.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defense, you are subject to certain special terms. For example, you must be security cleared and maintain the clearance throughout the employment.
