About the job
Do you want to lead two teams that build solutions with direct impact on banks' commercial customers, advisors and back offices and at the same time help shape how Bankdata builds software?
Apply for this job As a Senior Engineering Manager (Silkeborg or Aarhus) you will be responsible for two agile development teams in the Lending & Financing area, where technology, business and customer experience meet. It is a area with high complexity and great significance for banks' daily operations, and where quality, stability and the ability to continuously develop are crucial.
Lead two teams with a clear mission and real significance
You step into a role where leadership is not about being close to every detail, but about creating the frames that enable two teams to deliver steadily, learn faster and make better decisions together.
The teams work with credit solutions used by both end users, advisors and back office. This means that your deliveries must not only function technically – they must also support important processes in the banks and build trust among the people who use the solutions in practice.
Your task is to create clear direction, good prioritization and a working method that can hold over time. You help the teams break down larger problems, create an overview of dependencies and translate goals into concrete behavior in daily work. When ambiguity, risks or pressure on deliveries arise, you help create the next steps - without taking over the teams' responsibilities.
The special thing about the role is that you must both ensure a stable delivery capability and help employees and the teams develop themselves. You work with change through behavior, collaboration and shared ownership – not only through new processes. It requires that you can see patterns in well-being, quality, capacity and collaboration and translate them into concrete improvements that can be felt in the teams' everyday work.
You also play an important role in exploring how AI and new methods can improve software development as a natural part of working with quality, efficiency and learning.
What success looks like after 6–12 months
After the first 6–12 months you have created noticeable momentum in both teams and the leadership group. This means among other things that:
- your two teams work with clear direction, stable capacity and more predictable delivery capability
- the teams deliver in the agreed quality and in line with the expectations of customers and stakeholders
- employees take co-ownership for developing collaboration, prioritization and ways of delivering
- you have built trustful relationships with employees, peers in leadership and key partners
- the teams contribute constructively to the area’s portfolio management and cross-cutting priorities
- you have helped the teams through concrete changes – even when that required difficult prioritizations or clear conversations
- AI and new ways of working are used in a way that improves software development and contributes to new standards in the area
Be part of shaping the direction for more than just your own teams
You become part of a leadership group that will, in time, consist of five leaders with joint responsibility for nine teams. It gives you a leadership space where you can influence both your own teams and the area’s overall way of prioritizing, delivering and learning.
The leadership group works in a structured way with operations, strategic progress and personal development. Weekly you coordinate operational activities and help each other with current challenges. Monthly you work with strategic themes, measurements and adjusting direction. Quarterly you assess whether the area is moving in the desired direction, whether the backlog and prioritizations should be changed, and how the leadership group itself can develop its way of working.
You are expected to think as a leader for the whole – not only for your own teams. You contribute with an overview, curious questions and constructive sparring, and you help translate joint decisions into action. You communicate complex topics clearly and at the right time, so both teams, leadership peers and stakeholders can navigate them.
Your profile: you connect people, technology and deliveries
We imagine that you have experience leading software development teams and thrive in the tension between people, technology, deliveries and strategy.
You build followership through trust, clarity and follow-up. You can engage employees around common goals, help teams develop their collaboration and ensure agreements are followed up on. You can also handle demanding managerial situations when expectations, well-being or results call for open dialogue and clear follow-up.
You have a good understanding of software development and the mechanisms that make development teams function well. You do not need to be the most technical person in the room, but you should be able to ask the right questions, understand risks and dependencies and contribute to decisions about quality, robustness, security, compliance and delivery capability.
We see that you have experience with leading software development teams, change management, delivery responsibility in complex agile environments and collaboration in leadership groups with joint responsibility. It is also a plus if you have experience balancing customer needs, quality, capacity and business priorities – and are curious about how AI or new methods can improve software development.
You will thrive in the role if you can create momentum without taking over the teams' responsibilities, and if you are motivated by developing both people, ways of working and results.
Do you want to lead teams where your imprint can be felt?
The role gives you the opportunity to develop yourself in a leadership environment where people, technology and business are closely connected. You will work with team development, strategic prioritization, portfolio management, AI in software development and leading change in an area with great significance for Bankdata's customers and partners.
If you are motivated by creating direction, developing well-functioning teams and ensuring software deliveries of high quality, we would like to hear from you. At Bankdata you get a role where you can take responsibility for both people, collaboration and results and help lift the way we build software in a complex and meaningful area.
