About the job

Do you want to contribute to holding straw men and masterminds, villains in suits and crooks at the keyboard to account? And are you passionate about handling complex criminal cases concerning economic crime? Then you may be our new colleague in the Criminal Cases Unit 1 in Copenhagen.

The area of Crime, Compensation and Forbearance in the Tax Administration handles tax and duty criminal cases against citizens and businesses. You will become part of an engaged and professionally strong environment with challenging tasks and an informal tone.

About your work

Invoices factories and fictitious invoices are inextricably linked. Handling criminal cases against invoice factories and against those who buy the fictitious invoices is a complex case type that requires a systematic and analytical approach, and it is important to uncover connections and maintain an overview. This concerns organized economic crime, where the state treasury is defrauded of millions, and it is therefore important to hold the companies and citizens who do not declare taxes and VAT correctly to account.

As a caseworker with us your tasks will include

  • assess criminal cases,
  • hold meetings with suspects and advisors,
  • prepare penalty proposals and write indictment requests to the police,
  • collaborate with police and prosecution authority

You will receive thorough training, ample opportunity for competence development and a flexible daily life. From day one you will have independent responsibility for your own cases, but there are always good opportunities for sparring with colleagues, and your contribution plays an important role in solving the unit's cases.

About you

We want you to succeed and thrive in the role as legal case handler. Therefore we emphasize that you:

  • focus on legal certainty, quality and propriety,
  • are results-oriented and have an overview of your own cases,
  • see the benefit of collaboration and have interest and willingness to share knowledge with your colleagues,
  • have numeracy or accounting knowledge, but most importantly not afraid of numbers and
  • are good at articulating yourself and can convey difficult legal concepts in easily understandable language.

As a lawyer, corporate lawyer, tax auditor or cand.merc.aud., you are a good fit for the position, but you may also have another educational background where you have gained the necessary professional insight, e.g. from the police or financial sector.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of criminal law and case processing, but not a necessity, as we are guaranteed good onboarding. We have a strong focus on ensuring you settle well into the tasks and receive the necessary sparring.

Henrik is a legal case handler in the Criminal Cases Unit 1. He states

”Working with cases of complex economic crime is professionally challenging and very motivating. We map and analyze evidence and assess whether there can be punishment for specific VAT and tax evasion. It is an important societal task that gives meaning to the job.”
