Sign language contact person – Nærum

Can you sign? And are you interested in using it in a small job that has a big impact on another person? Then this might be just the thing for you?

On behalf of Nærum Municipality, CFD Advisory is seeking a contact person for an elderly woman with deafblindness who enjoys life and the experiences it can provide.

The woman communicates in Danish Sign Language, so it is a prerequisite that you can do it. She receives sign language tactually, so if you have not tried it before, we will teach you.

This is hourly paid work, primarily in connection with events – about 100 hours per year. In addition, about 20 hours per year for your own supervision and course days.

Responsibilities

Your task as a contact person is to function as the woman's eyes, accompany her and be the link between her and the surroundings, in connection with, for example,

• courses at Fuglsangcentret in Fredericia
• events organized by Deafblind Denmark, Deaf Church, etc.
• accompanying on shorter walks, to go shopping, etc.

The work is not physically strenuous.

About you

To be a good fit for the position you should

• be able to sign
• be flexible with working hours
• be mature and calm
• be open to learning something new.

Before you start work, you must complete an e-learning course of 2.5 hours, which provides an introduction to the work. This takes place at home on your own computer, and you will be paid for it.

You will also later be invited to paid course days where you can meet other contact persons.

You will also receive ongoing training and mentoring from both the deafblind consultant and the woman herself, including with regard to accompaniment, describing the surroundings and tactile communication.

Salary and terms of employment are agreed with Rudersdal Municipality, which is the employing authority.
