Sign language contact person(s) wanted

Can you sign and would you like a job where the pace is calm, the relationship close and the meaning big? Then it might be you we are looking for.

CFD Rådgivning seeks one or more contact persons on behalf of two people who are deafblind. As a contact person you will be an important liaison between the citizen and the outside world.

Who are we seeking a contact person(s) for?

We currently have two different assignments

Woman in her 80s, Frederiksberg

Communicates exclusively in tactile sign language. Needs accompaniment for shopping, walks, doctor and treatments.

Fixed every Tuesday at about 9.30–13.30 – with the possibility of more hours.

Man in his 60s, Nærum

Communicates exclusively in tactile sign language. Needs conversations about everyday life and news, short walks and small purchases.

Fixed one day per week about 2 hours.

What does the job entail?

As a contact person you support the citizen in daily life and in contact with the surroundings. Tasks may include:

• accompanying on walks, shopping and small excursions
• conveying news from TV, letters and surroundings
• support for communication and social contact

The work is not physically demanding, but requires presence, calm, and a willingness to enter into a close relationship. Read more about being a contact person here and meet people who already work as a contact person.

Who are you?

We expect that you

• can sign (tactile is an advantage – training provided)
• are reliable and flexible
• are calm, mature and open to learning new things

You will receive ongoing training and sparring from the deafblind consultant and the citizen(s).

Practical information and contact

Salary and employment terms are arranged with the employing municipality. Interviews are held on an ongoing basis, so please send your application as soon as possible. Indicate which of the positions you are interested in and note that you can apply for more than one.
