About the job

Would you like to contribute to ensuring that policy development in the tax area is based on a professionally well-lit foundation? Would you join a strong professional and social community? Work in a politically driven environment? And would you help develop calculation principles regarding corporate, business and share taxation? Then you may be our new colleague in the Corporate Taxation Office in one of the very central ministries on Slotsholmen.

About the position

In the Corporate Taxation Office (SEB) you will be part of a dedicated team of seven skilled economists. We work closely with our colleagues in the legal sister office on the corporate area, as well as the ministry's other offices in both the financial, economic and international areas. Our field spans broadly, and includes the taxation of small business owners, multinational companies and their shareholders. You will therefore work with agendas such as regulatory simplification, growth and entrepreneurship, as well as a forthcoming capital taxation reform.

As an economist in SEB you work at the intersection of economics and policy. You translate economic expertise into concrete professional assessments that form the fundament under the political decision-making processes. You also participate in the office's ongoing work with economic method development in central areas, including behavioral effects of the field's taxes and charges.

Our analyses and assessments must be formulated sharply when we deliver input directly to the government’s economic policy. This places demands on both your creativity and your communication skills. In return, we offer an inspiring and strong professional environment with close collaboration across the economic ministries, where your development will also be in focus.

We solve tasks collectively, and your tasks will include, among other things, to

  • Prepare decision proposals to the minister and the government.
  • Support the ministry's work with regulatory simplification.
  • Support commissions and expert committees with analyses and calculations, including the forthcoming Capital Taxation Commission.
  • Carry out revenue proofs and drive method development in various areas, including for example preparation for the government's upcoming entrepreneurship package.
  • Contribute to the office's international work in OECD and EU.
  • Formulate answers to questions from the Folketing.

About you

You are probably a professionally highly qualified economist – with a degree such as cand.polit., cand.oecon., cand.scient.oecon. or similar. But the most important thing is that you are analytically minded, and that you can quickly understand complex contexts, and capture the essential political trade-offs. You may be newly graduated or have a couple of years of experience.

You must have the will and ability to work with analyses and method development within the tax policy area in general, but especially with focus on the socio-economic effects of the taxation of companies and shareholders. Communicating analyses and results will be a central part of the work. You should therefore be able to articulate yourself well in writing, while also being willing to delve into technical problems and perform economic calculations.

As a person you are engaged and responsible with notably good cooperation skills and a positive attitude, even when things move fast. You are motivated by taking independent responsibility, and you want to influence the office's professional development in collaboration with your new colleagues.

We expect you to thrive in a varied environment, where some tasks are characterized by tight deadlines, e.g., in connection with political negotiations, while other tasks require deep work over longer periods. We also place emphasis on your being prepared to make an extra effort when necessary. At the same time we offer a flexible workplace in the heart of Copenhagen, and we emphasize that it should be fun and exciting to go to work.

Work closely with what matters

In the Ministry of Taxation and Growth we work closely with the political processes in an area with great attention and many stakeholders. We devote all our efforts to solving our tasks in a proper way while at the same time setting direction and creating solutions for our entire group.

We are a professional and ambitious department with about 330 employees, who daily solve challenging tasks across disciplines. We know that good solutions arise from the interaction between disciplines. Therefore we cultivate a strong professional collaborative culture, where there is also room for the social.
