Principal for Østervangsskolen

Do you want to lead a school where well-being, sense of belonging and motivation are at the center? Then you may be the person we are seeking as the new principal at Østervangsskolen in Randers Municipality.

Østervangsskolen is located in the northeastern Randers, where, despite our central city location, we offer airy surroundings and attractive outdoor areas. The school is a local hub that daily forms the framework for nearly 350 pupils and 80 dedicated staff. Our student body is broadly composed and today distributed across 23 classes, covering 0–6th grade in the general track and 0–10th grade in the school's special department.

We are currently facing an exciting development task, as the political decision has just been made to re-establish the school's upper level. This starts with 7th grade in the 2027/2028 school year and will be fully rolled out to 9th grade in 2029/2030.

We are a dynamic school that views diversity as a crucial resource, and we deliberately work to build strong communities across cultures and demographics. We work ambitiously with our pedagogy – including problem- and project-based learning (PBL) with a focus on practical subjects, where students work with authentic problems. Through our focus on special pedagogy in practice (SPIP), we create inclusive environments in all classes, ensuring every child the optimal academic and social development.

Everyday life at the school is characterized by close parent collaboration based on trust, dialogue and shared responsibility for the children’s well-being.

As our leader has chosen to retire after the last 11 years, you have the opportunity to lead Østervangsskolen. We seek a principal who stands on a strong professional footing and can unite the whole school – from early years and middle years to the special department – in a common direction. Together with a strong management team and a committed staff, you will play a decisive role in shaping the school's future development – not least the task of building our new upper level.

About the job

We are looking for a present and clear leader who makes employees, pupils, parents and the school board active participants. You have deep pedagogical insight and understand how to think strategically so the school continuously develops both academic standards and the strong communities that must carry all our pupils. In addition, you have a holistic view and the ability to drive the school's development without losing grip on day-to-day operations – always with a focus on how well-being, learning, collaboration and pedagogical leadership are inseparably linked.

• You have leadership experience from the school sector and a leadership education – or are well underway with one.
• You can navigate a politically led organization and actively contribute to cross-functional cooperation in the school leadership group.
