Børnehusene Stjernen is one of Region Syddanmark's residential facilities for children/youth up to 25 years old, with multiple functional impairments and thereby special needs, pedagogical and health-related. The department houses 7 wonderful children/young people who need support for all basic functions, for play, experiences and development towards as much independence as possible. Some of the children have autism or autistic-like behavior, and require shielding and clear boundaries.

Core values

We work purposefully so that children/young people in our house experience daily the core values: 'I am safe' and 'I can communicate' . These values are fundamental prerequisites for all pedagogical and health-care practices. To achieve this, the relationship to the individual is worked on. Several of our children/young people have no verbal language, but are experts when it comes to reading others' signals and body language.

The communication varies to such an extent that you would need to adapt your own communication approach every time you approach a new child/young person. If they are not heard, if we do not manage to understand them and if the world becomes too unpredictable, then challenging behavior can occur, but there is ALWAYS a reason for it.

Professionalism

You are educated and preferably have several years of experience as Social and Health Assistant. The position combines SSA tasks and participation in the pedagogical work. There will be collaboration and sparring about the health-related tasks with the house's nurses as well as other SSAs. For several children there are complex health-related challenges that require regular contact with, among others, specialists.

The pedagogical tasks you will be trained in. You will receive introduction and on-the-job training, feedback conversations, MUS and guidance from relevant consultants/subject-matter experts across Handicap Center Fyn. There is also defusing after each shift.

We use Nexus for daily documentation, and you will particularly need to contribute to the work with the health-related documentation.

Work structure

You will be part of the overall staff group, but also of a smaller team around 2-3 children/young people and you will work a lot 1:1 with the individual. We work purposefully with the citizens' daily structures and associated risk profiles. You must help with the whole life of the child/young person, including personal care. You will have to solve both health-care tasks and pedagogical tasks, but will have special tasks linked to your profession and a collaboration with the other health-care staff.

Involvement of relatives is also an important part of our work and an important source of knowledge about the children/young people.

Collaboration

All input is equally important and everyone is equally valued, whether we are unskilled or have many years of education. We all have something we are good at, and it is expected that everyone contributes to solving the core task. You will become the lead together with the department's nurse in relation to health-care problems and documentation, and must be ready to cooperate and introduce the pedagogical staff to the health tasks. Mistakes are not a shame, but a common learning potential.

You are secure when you know your colleague and your leader have your back in difficult situations. You are secure when there is open dialogue also about the difficult things, and we are always working to create and develop psychologically.

All the practical

The position is 37 hours/week but the hours may be adjusted. Start as soon as possible. You must be prepared to work in mixed shifts with every other weekend. Working hours are between 06:00 and 22:00, and you must be prepared for some shifts of up to 11 hours. Work is based on a 4-week plan. We have a local agreement on the possibility of reduced rest time.

You are expected to have a valid driving license – category B.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

The region is obliged to inform you of the starting salary for the position. You will be told the base salary, centrally set allowances and pension in the collective agreement . In addition to the starting salary, the salary may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
