About the job

The Placement Team in the Family and Counseling Center is seeking 1 social worker/social mediator

Are you passionate about working with children and young people, especially those who are placed and their families? Do you want to become part of a team with high professional standards, strong collegiality and a good working environment, where we develop and succeed together?

Then you might be our new colleague in the Placement Team in the Family and Counseling Center.

We are looking for 1 social worker/social mediator for a permanent position.

With us you will have the opportunity to become part of a specialized placement team, where you work on complex and meaningful cases together with experienced colleagues. We prioritize professional development, supervision, sparring and close administrative support

About the Family and Counseling Center

The Family and Counseling Center is a large house with more than 150 engaged colleagues, spread across the following teams: Administration, reception, children, young people, disability and placements as well as family care, overnight custodians and internal institutions.

We work from a facilitative leadership approach, where professional direction and solutions are created in dialogue. We continually pause to use data actively and examine our practice so that we can become wiser and better together.

Structure and systemic thinking are important elements in our work because they provide the best possible support for children, young people and families. We use Signs of Safety as a common method and shared language among us.

The Placement Team – strong professionalism and meaningful authority work

The Placement Team consists of 12 dedicated advisers who work with some of the most complex and meaningful tasks in the children and youth area.

We are a team with high well-being, great mutual help and a strong professional community. We prioritize sparring, reflection and collaboration highly, because we know that the best solutions are created together.

In the Placement Team we work with children and young people who are in care. We have close cooperation with the children, the young people, their families, foster families, residential facilities and other partners. We know that good cooperation is essential for a successful placement.

We believe that specialized knowledge creates better solutions for children, young people and families. Therefore we have gathered the placement area into one specialized team that handles the authority work in both social cases and cases concerning children and young people with physical and mental disabilities.

In person-directed supervision we typically have two advisers participate. This ensures professional sparring, security and shared reflection

We are curious about each other’s perspectives and actively work to develop and qualify our practice, so we look forward to hearing what you can contribute to our team.

The tasks are wide-ranging and include, among other things

  • Initiation of and follow-up on placements
  • Person-directed supervision at placement sites, located around the country with the corresponding involvement conversation with the child/young person
  • Follow-up and involvement of the parents including the preparation of parental action plans
  • Administrative work with case notes, the child’s/young person’s plan, visitation decisions etc.
  • Preparation of recommendations to the Children and Youth Committee
  • Preparation of child welfare assessments
  • Coordinating tasks related to supported and supervised visits, school cooperation, etc.
  • Collaboration with foster families, residential facilities, internal and external services
  • Planning of return home and transition to adult life

A secure start and ongoing professional development

When you start in the Placement Team, you will be met with a structured introduction program that gives you a solid foundation in the law, authority work and our local practice.

Learning and development are an integrated part of everyday life. The training takes its starting point in our concrete practice and covers both traditional authority tasks and more relational aspects, including

  • Involving the child/young person in their own case
  • Good written work
  • Collaboration with families in complex situations

We learn through professional sparring, reflection and joint development because quality is created together.

Support in everyday life

You will receive solid administrative support, which among other things helps with

  • Sending out decisions
  • Administrative registrations
  • Creation of interventions
  • Access to information

In addition you will have access to regular legal sparring from lawyers specialized in children and youth areas.

That gives you more time for the social and relational work.

An alternative recruitment process – “The organization thinks together”

At the Family and Counseling Center we are currently implementing a new mindset: "The organization thinks together".

This means that we increasingly want to involve employees in decisions and give them a space to co-create the practice they work in daily. The idea is that leadership takes on a more facilitative role rather than a traditionally decision-making role.

This is also reflected in this recruitment process, where we will try a different way of conducting interviews

1st interview will be conducted exclusively with advisers from the Placement Team and without the participation of the manager and coordinator.

1st interview will take place on Wednesday, 25 November 2026.

2nd interview will be held with the participation of the manager and coordinator, where the team has selected the candidates.

2nd interview will take place on Thursday, 26 November 2026.
