About the job

Are you politically sharp, and would you like to work closely with the political decision-making processes in the government? Do you have the ambition to try your hand at leadership and contribute to the daily support of the Minister of Tax and Growth’s participation in the government committees and in larger political processes. Then the job as deputy head of the Tax and Growth Ministry's Office for Policy and Coordination might be for you.

About the job

The Office for Policy and Coordination is looking for a deputy head who can set the direction for and assist with driving the office’s work to support the minister in some of the standing government committees, including coordinating and preparing material. The office also supports the entire ministry in a holistic approach to planning, coordination and execution of larger political processes. The work involves a wide range of political matters across the central administration.

The office consists of 9 skilled and dedicated staff and is one of three offices in the Stab (Support) department, which is also responsible for the daily service of the minister and the secretary-general as well as the press.

The core of your work will be to ensure that the minister and the secretary-general are as well prepared as possible for discussions in the government committees and the preparatory meetings. At the same time you will have a coordinating role regarding government affairs within the Tax and Growth Ministry’s area, which are prepared by the relevant subject offices. In addition to this, you will support good case workflows and processes both in relation to cross-cutting work in the government committees and to the ministry’s political processes, where the office has a central role.

You will have a daily life close to the political process and a broad insight into the cases that help shape the government’s policy. At the same time you will be in close dialogue with the minister’s special adviser, other ministries and the ministry’s subject offices, which provides an opportunity to network across the central administration and up to the political level.

As deputy head you will join a leadership team with the office head. In cooperation with the head of the office you should maintain an overview and set the direction for the office’s tasks, ensure coordination with other ministries and contribute to the professional leadership strength of the office. You will have professional managerial responsibility for a clearly defined portfolio of tasks, where you will assist with professional sparring as well as quality assurance of the office’s deliverables.

About you

You are a generalist and have a relevant master's degree as well as a strong professional level. In addition you have:

  • experience from the public sector, preferably a ministry, including solid experience with preparing decision papers for top management and the political level
  • very good process understanding and experience in leading larger tasks from A to B. Experience with government processes is an advantage
  • good oral and written communication skills and a well-developed ability to bring your own professional assessment into play.

As a person you are flexible, highly engaged, have a good mood and a positive attitude when things move quickly. You are thorough, independent and proactive. You have especially good collaboration skills, value openness and constructive dialogue to ensure high quality in task solving, and you emphasize that political decisions are made on the best possible basis.

It is not a requirement that you have experience with the leadership role, but it is important that you are willing to try leadership and are passionate about creating a fun, motivating and challenging work environment that develops each person’s professional and personal development.
