About the job

Address: Nordstjernevej 21, 2600 Glostrup

We are seeking an engaged specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry who is passionate about assessment and treatment of young people with complex psychiatric difficulties. We provide highly specialized functions in psychosis, complicated neuropsychiatry, and forensic psychiatry during hospitalization.

We are looking for you to help make a difference for some of the most ill young people in the country within an intensive framework. Our approach is driven by professional curiosity, empathy and multidisciplinary collaboration.

About the ward

B204 is a closed 24-hour unit for youths aged 14 to 17 years.

Our average length of stay is around 40 days, reflecting a wide variation in duration and need for treatment within our specialized intensive framework. Our treatment approach is multidisciplinary, bio-psycho-social, which is reflected in how we have organized ourselves in the department.

We have a broad, multidisciplinary staff group, consisting of doctors, psychologist, social worker, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, nurses, social and health assistants and pedagogues.

We focus on involving parents, municipal and outpatient partners early and continuously in the process. In many admission processes the initial treatment effort targets stabilization of the current psychiatric crisis, after which assessment, optimization of medical treatment, cognitive milieu therapy, talk therapy and social interventions become a continuing part of the young person’s hospitalization.

For many years we have worked intensively with prevention and reduction of coercion, and have achieved successes in many cases. We are concerned with the young person’s path from our ward to the receiving outpatient clinic and the youth life to be lived after discharge, and we make an effort to ensure good transitions and prevent readmissions.

We also provide ambulant forensic services for youths under 18, and have close collaboration with the center’s other departments and highly specialized outpatient services.

The ward is led by a head nurse and a chief physician.

We focus on creating a healthy and safe working environment together with you. We are each other’s work environment, and we emphasize a good multidisciplinary and social community.

The job

We are looking for you who are a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and inspired by working with severe mental disorders in an intensive treatment framework.

You will become part of a multidisciplinary treatment and staff group that works bio-psycho-socially with optimization of medical treatment, milieu therapy, talk therapy during hospitalization and follow-up on social support interventions after discharge. Our inpatients have complex symptoms and needs, and therefore it is important that we reap the fruits of our collective competencies in the ward.

That is why we work in a team-based manner, and it is our interdisciplinarity and collaboration that ensures the holistic approach, which is crucial for our patients.

Together with the ward’s chief physician, leading chief physician and the other treatment group you will play an important role in setting the professional direction for treatment pathways, ensuring continuity of treatment, offering sparring to training doctors and staff, and contributing to the ward’s quality work and professional development.

In addition, your duties on the ward include

  • Diagnosis and treatment of young people with complex psychiatric disorders
  • Diagnosis and treatment in juvenile forensic psychiatric processes
  • Leading patient pathways, where you are the treatment-responsible specialist
  • Meeting management at various types of multidisciplinary conferences
  • Guidance of teaching doctors
  • Contribute to professional development in the ward, including teaching
  • Build bridges and create integration between different professional perspectives and involve the young person’s and parents’ perspectives to ensure a holistic and individually tailored treatment for our patients
  • Contribute to solving specialized administrative tasks, including forensic psychiatric statements.

What we offer

We offer an exciting and professionally challenging position in a community characterized by responsibility, collaboration and attention to both our treatment environment for the young and our shared working environment.

We challenge each other professionally and we have fun together. We accommodate our patients’ challenges, and take care of each other so we can be there for our patients in a caring, professional and sustainable way.

We prioritize professional development both for the ward and for the individual employee. Clear opportunities for competence development and continuing education could be within psychopathology and psychometrics, psychotherapy, and forensic psychiatry.

Who are you?

You are a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry with professional engagement and interest in assessment, medical treatment, understanding the importance of talk therapy and multidisciplinary collaboration in highly specialized treatment teams. You may be interested in research and certainly interested in professional development, teaching and quality development.

You take responsibility for your part of the results we achieve together on the ward, for your and your colleagues’ professional development and for your own and our shared working environment and well-being. You are a team player and want to work with respect and at eye level with our inpatients and their parents in an intensive treatment phase characterized by severe psychopathology.

You manage to help keep hope alive for our patients, and you can articulate and support our many good treatment options, and the collaboration with the young person to feel better.

You are a positive role model for medical treatment, guidance and care.

You are an experienced or newly graduated specialist. The most important is your willingness and commitment to come and make a positive difference for our inpatients.
