About the school

Stensagerskolen is a highly specialized school for a broad group of students with severe physical and/or mental disabilities. We focus on learning, community, and quality of life and educate students from kindergarten through to and including the tenth grade. The after-school program extends to and includes 7th grade and is integrated with the school in a holistic offering. We have approximately 320 students at the school and about 180 students in the after-school program.

There are a little over 260 staff members, making it Aarhus Municipalitys largest school by staff size and one of the countrys largest special schools. The school is housed on two sites, respectively in Brabrand and Viby.

Stensagerskolens vision is to be the best possible school for the children who are referred to us. We work from a broad learning concept to ensure the development of all school students in relation to each students potential and development opportunities. We work with a wide range of evidence-based methods, documentation forms, and tools for children and young people with special needs.

The academic environment is diverse and specialized. We have hired teachers, pedagogues, pedagogical assistants, speech therapists, physiotherapists, a music therapist, and a pedagogical IT consultant and a pedagogical advisor. We have engaged and professionally skilled staff, high professional ambitions, and broad interdisciplinary collaboration.

About the job

We offer an exciting position at a well-run school in development, where the childs perspective is central. You will become part of a leadership team consisting of a school principal, deputy principal, five pedagogical leaders, and collaboration with the administrative leader.

We emphasize open dialogue, inclusive processes, professionalism, and an informal atmosphere. You will enter a leadership team in development, and it is important that you are willing to engage openly in this process.

You will have personnel and pedagogical leadership of two clusters, which consist of six classes with accompanying after-school offerings, which will be either primary or middle school classes. You should be able to see yourself as a leader in relation to all grade levels, as there may be ongoing changes in the distribution of leadership tasks. The position is currently on the Janesvej site, Brabrand.

As a pedagogical leader, you are the closest daily manager for all teams in your clusters. In each team there are teachers, pedagogues, and pedagogical assistants who work closely together around a class with a maximum of nine students. The number of teams varies from year to year for the individual pedagogical leader, and you will be responsible for a minimum of 35 employees.

Your leadership tasks span a wide range and include strategic, pedagogical, and operational areas of responsibility. Among the concrete tasks can be mentioned:

• Pedagogical sparring and implementation of Broader Childrens Communities , the schools pedagogical vision and professional foundation
• Planning for the new school year and ongoing resource allocation
• Occupational health and safety leader for the clusters
• Conducting sickness absence conversations and MUS (employee development conversations)

As a pedagogical leader you also handle cross-school tasks.

Requirements for the position

We are seeking a leader who is trained as a teacher, and who preferably has experience from the special education field or has a strong interest in special pedagogical practice.

It is an advantage if you have leadership experience. Alternatively, you have the desire and potential for leadership and experience from e.g. a role as advisor, coordinator, or union representative.

If you are not already a leader, you are prepared to start a leadership education. In addition, you have a good understanding of digital tools, operations, and administration.

Salary and employment

The position is a full-time role with no upper limit on working hours. Thus, the salary for the position is top step 48 + annual allowance of DKK 40,420, corresponding to approx. DKK 626,000 in current-year terms. In addition, allowance is paid for completing a diploma in leadership. A child protection background check as well as a criminal record check will be obtained.
