Street Outreach Worker

Are you good at building relationships with people? Do you want to help shape the street-level initiative in Herning? Then you might be our new colleague and street-level worker

DOT – the outreach team, is seeking a new colleague. You will primarily act as a street-level worker and be proactive and outgoing in your contact style. DOT is one of our newest initiatives in the socially vulnerable area in Herning municipality. We focus a lot on the whole area and would very much like to succeed with value-creating interventions for the benefit of the individual citizen and their surroundings.

We imagine you are in a situation where you would like to try your hand at a new area. And just really have a strong desire to meet people who need to be met.

The work as a street-level worker means that a large part of your workday has an outbound function in public spaces, homeless shelters and/or the citizen's own home. Your task is to step in where you are needed and have a knack for reading situations where you're needed, even if not explicitly stated. A large part of outreach street-level work is to be supportive and build bridges with the surroundings and other services.

As a street-level worker you mainly need to be able to contact and build good relationships with citizens who are on the streets and/or use homeless shelters, warming centers, etc. The effort is dialog-based and aims to create security and strengthen the citizen's ability to obtain and maintain contact with the outside world according to their own wishes and needs. The street-level initiative should also succeed in creating safety and preventing issues between the citizen group and their surroundings, such as retailers, neighbors, etc., around them.

As a street-level worker you will help support the already strong network that currently has knowledge of the citizen group. You will engage in a close and value-creating collaboration with both municipal and private actors in the field.

You will become part of DOT, which consists of a team collaboration between our Team Coordinator, two street-level workers, a social custodian and our social nurse. The team has a strong professional profile and is excellent at working in chaos, and tasks where many people think "something must be done." The art is to be able to maintain overview and calm even when things get fast-paced. The team can do that and you will also need to be able to.

Citizen group

You must with respect and trust be able to create a good approach to a broad and heterogeneous group of citizens in a socially vulnerable position, with various challenges such as addiction, mental health burdens or social problems. They share that these are citizens who want and need to be part of communities, have social relations and meet others in public spaces.

Furthermore you must be able to create credible and clear relationships with the surroundings around the citizen group. You should expect there will be a need to engage in dialogue with retailers, neighbors, associations, organizations and partners.

• tager ansvar og bidrager til et godt arbejdsmiljø.

Terms and salary

Salary and employment conditions according to the applicable collective agreement and local pay-setting agreement.

The position is initially 37 hours.

The working hours are expected to primarily take place during daytime.

The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
