About the job

We are a small team of medical students, looking for 3 new members. The team's work is part of randomized clinical studies, which aim to describe the complex symptom picture and assess treatment effect. The current research project includes both PTSD-affected refugees (at the Competence Center for Transcultural Psychiatry) and PTSD-affected civilians (at the Psychotherapeutic Outpatient Clinic).

About the job

Our task as student assistants consists in assessing patients' depression symptoms using the Hamilton Rating Scale and functional level and cognition using the WHODAS interview. We are blinded to the patients' treatment and are thus not involved in the actual treatment or research work. You gain great experience in patient interviews, as well as a unique opportunity to train clear communication, since we use interpreters in part of the conversations.

You will be trained in the form of a review of the used rating scales, two paid on-call shifts, and a joint rating, where we, with supervision from one of the department's consultants, assess a video-recorded interview. We as a team are very well-liked in the outpatient clinics and can always contact the staff with questions.

You can apply if you

  • are medical students in 3rd-8th semester.
  • can participate in the joint rating on Wednesday, December 2, 2026 from 13:00-15:00.
  • can participate in two on-call shifts in November-December.
  • can take independent shifts starting January.
  • Can stay on the team for a minimum of 1 year.

When applying, interest and experience in psychiatry and/or transcultural work would be an advantage but not a requirement.

Salary and employment terms

We generally cover shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8.00-15.00 and you are hired for 10 hours/month. This means you have 1-2 shifts per month (+ standby shift). In addition, there are 3 paid joint ratings per semester, which take place on Wednesdays 13-15. It is expected that everyone on the team participates to ensure consistency in ratings.

You will be employed in accordance with the collective agreement for administrative and IT staff, etc. You are during employment covered by the applicable working time rules established between the Regions' Payroll and Tariff Board and HK Municipal.

Application procedure

The application deadline is Sunday October 25, 2026 at 23:59 .

Employment interviews will be held on Thursday October 29, 2026 from 13:00.

We look forward to hearing from you.
