About the job
Are you interested in case processing and public administration, and are you curious about how data can be used to find patterns and improve workflows? Then you might be our new student assistant in the Control and Data team in the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI)!
Your new workplace
In SIRI we ensure EU citizens easy and quick access to Denmark, and we process applications for residence and work permits for foreigners who want to work or study in Denmark.
In SIRI we also work with our strategy and core tasks in mind. We have a strategy house that describes our vision and mission as well as the foundation for our way of working. Read more about us, our strategy and our different offices here. In SIRI digitalisation is an important part of our daily life. We work with new technological possibilities e.g. AI to strengthen efficient and safe task handling and create value for citizens, businesses and employees.
Welcome to your new team - Control and Data
You will become part of the Control and Data team in the Economics and Analysis office. The team uses, among other things, register data to check whether the conditions for residence and work permits in SIRI’s area are being complied with. We plan and conduct controls, screen concrete cases and work with data and development of the control effort.
Your tasks
Your primary task will be to support register-based control of SIRI’s residence schemes. You will mainly work with screening cases that have been selected for control.
Based on fixed guidelines and workflows, you will assess the individual cases and identify which ones should be created as control cases. You thus take an important role in the initial case handling and will be introduced to SIRI’s case processing systems, including Public360.
The task requires you to work systematically and concentrated with a large number of cases, and that you have an eye for detail and consistent quality in task execution.
If you want to work with data and development, there is also the possibility to use your curiosity in the tasks. For example you can help discover patterns in the cases and suggest how we can improve our use of register data, workflows and the control efforts.
Depending on your interests there will also be an opportunity to try other administrative tasks in Economics and Analysis.
About you
You are pursuing a relevant education, e.g. law, political science, public administration or similar.
We emphasize that you
- are thorough, detail-oriented and responsible in your task handling
- thrive with fixed workflows and tasks where quality and systematic approach are important
- can work independently and as part of a team
- have a knack for familiarising yourself with new IT systems and are curious about using data to improve task handling
- have drive and are willing to tackle both larger and smaller tasks.
Experience with administrative tasks or case handling is an advantage, but not a requirement. You do not need to be able to program – the most important is that you want to learn and explore how data and digital tools can support the work.
What you get as a student in Economics and Analysis
You will have responsibility for your own tasks and become part of the daily operation on equal footing with the rest of the office staff. We provide you with a thorough introduction and ongoing professional sparring, so you are equipped to solve the tasks independently. The office has a total of seven students who work closely together.
You will also gain insight into working in a politically managed organization and how data, case handling and control interact in practice.
We have a good and informal work environment with plenty of space, humor and a strong social community. You will have around 40 engaged colleagues with different experiences, education, perspectives and tasks, and we collaborate broadly with the rest of the agency and the ministry.
There should also be room for more than just work. We have both a running club and training facilities – and we host Friday bars in the Slyngel Room in the basement with table tennis, board games, draft beer and soft drinks. Your new colleagues in the office are often among those who take the lead in social events.
Further information
If you have any other questions, you are welcome to contact the head of office Morten Thaning Thulstrup at telephone number 72 14 24 20 / email [email protected], or deputy head Cecilie Bøttern Steffensen, at telephone number 72 14 24 93 / email [email protected].

The Danish Security Intelligence Service will conduct a security check of your person so that we in the Ministry of Immigration and Integration can assess whether you are suitable to hold the position. You must be able to pass a security check periodically throughout your employment. You can read about how we process your personal data here.
