About the job

Internship in the Sustainability Team – start February 2027

Do you want to help create architecture with impact?

In a world calling for positive change, architecture is more than a frame around our lives – it is an opportunity to change it for the better. At AART we believe that architecture is a crucial driver for creating positive changes in society. Therefore we go to work every day with one shared ambition: To create architecture that makes a real difference for people, organisations, society and nature.

If you share our vision, a internship with AART can give you the opportunity to put it into practice.

Your role and what you will be part of

As an intern in our sustainability team you will be part of AART's office in Nørrebro overlooking Copenhagen. Here you will work closely with our sustainability specialists and contribute to idea development, sparring, calculations, documentation and communication of sustainable solutions across our projects.

The construction industry is in the midst of a comprehensive green transition, and at AART we actively work with the opportunities and challenges it brings. We work with sustainability throughout the entire construction process – from early design phases to on-site execution – turning ambitions and strategies into concrete solutions.

This includes, among other things, material choices, reuse and biogenic materials, digitization of design processes and LCA calculations as well as DGNB certifications and project-specific sustainability goals. Transformation and renovation occupy a lot of our projects, and we work purposefully to how existing buildings and resources can be preserved, developed and given new life.

As an intern you will therefore also have the opportunity to work with sustainability in transformation and renovation projects, where among other things existing structures, materials, resource use and life cycle perspectives play a central role.

You will be assigned to specific projects, where you will have the opportunity to build a thorough knowledge of each project’s sustainability profile. You will, among other things, work with LCA calculations and assist the projects with sustainability-disciplinary analyses and assessments. Your tasks are carried out in close collaboration with the sustainability team, BIM experts and project groups with a particular focus on sustainability and LCA.

The work ranges from hands-on calculations on concrete projects to development of tools and handling of data that support AART's work with interdisciplinary design and the use of life cycle analyses as a basis for decisions through the design process.

One of the keys to your success is that you have an understanding of the architectural profession and the constraints, opportunities and desires that shape a project – both in the early design phases and during the design development. You therefore have a relevant educational background and are curious and listening in your approach. An important part of our everyday life is also the ability to translate complex analyses and calculations into clear and simple communication. Therefore it is a clear plus if you have an eye for communicating your work orally, in writing, and graphically across disciplines.

In the team we are experienced sustainability specialists who continuously give you constructive feedback on your work. You will be assigned a fixed mentor who supports both your professional and personal development during the internship. Along the way you will also participate in meetings with partners, internal continuing education activities and social events that give you additional experience with the profession in a professionally inspiring and developmental environment.

To be considered for the internship, you must be a student in a relevant higher education program.

We envision that you

  • are passionate about sustainability and the green transition of the built environment
  • are curious, proactive and a good listener in your approach
  • have an understanding of architecture, construction and design processes
  • work in a structured way and are pedagogical in communicating results
  • have worked with LCA calculations in your studies
  • have an interest in transformation, renovation and working with existing buildings
  • preferably have experience with daylight calculations and/or DGNB documentation
  • preferably have knowledge of Revit, Rhino and/or SketchUp
  • preferably have knowledge of recycled materials and biogenic materials

At AART we warmly welcome you from day one and give you the best opportunities to strengthen your competences and translate your professional knowledge into practice. You will become part of an interdisciplinary environment where sustainability is closely integrated into the work of creating architecture with impact.

We conduct interviews on an ongoing basis, so apply now. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you!
