Teacher for a substitute position at Dybkær Special School

Are you a qualified teacher and would you like to work with students with special needs?

We are seeking as of 1 October 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, a teacher for a fixed-term appointment. The position is a full-time role in our lower school.

Dybkær Special School is Silkeborg Municipality's educational and leisure offer for children and young people with severe general learning difficulties. The school receives pupils from Silkeborg and the surrounding municipalities. About 135 students attend the school.

The students' learning difficulties are generally of a general nature, and a large part of the children have complex disabilities that require understanding of, e.g., alternative communication strategies.

Educational basis

"It is Dybkær Special School's central task to help strengthen and develop the students academically, socially and personally. Dybkær Special School shall constitute an educational framework around the students' formation and education, so that each student in the daily life of the school experiences life skills as a human being and a citizen of society. When a student attends the school, he/she can expect to be met with recognition and respect.

The student is naturally included in communities and meets a safe and structured everyday life. Teachers and educators design and plan in collaboration a meaningful everyday life for the student, based on the student’s prerequisites and needs.

The close interdisciplinary collaboration between educator(s), teacher(s), assistant(s) and other staff helps ensure the best conditions for the students' academic, social and personal development. Learning thus takes place at different levels and in different situations throughout the student’s day".

Your profile

• Is a qualified teacher.
• You will take on teaching tasks across all subjects in the primary years, in close collaboration with your colleagues.
• Is curious about their own practice and always sees the child's potential.
• Willing and capable to plan, implement and evaluate teaching for the target group.
• Willing to work in special education.
• Willing to acquire knowledge about - alternative communication forms (including ICT-based communication aids, Sign-to-speech, PODD, PSAS, picture communication).
• Willing to, and passionate about teaching in an interdisciplinary team.
• Can provide personal care for children and young people with extensive disabilities.
