About the job

Teacher for the primary grades at Ellebæk department

Do you want to help create a safe and developing start to school for children with autism?

At the Ellebæk department we are looking for an engaged teacher for our primary school. We are looking for you who are passionate about working with the youngest schoolchildren and motivated to create the best framework for learning, well-being and development.

With us you will have the opportunity to be an important adult in the children’s first year at school and make a real difference for pupils with special needs. You will become part of a professionally strong and engaged team, where presence, structure and strong relationships are the foundation of our pedagogical work.

What will your role be?

As a teacher in the primary grades you will be part of a strong primary team. You will typically teach two classes with pupils mainly within the autism spectrum, and the teaching is planned and carried out in close collaboration with the team’s other staff.

We place a high value on joint task solving and work together to create the best conditions for pupils’ learning, well-being and development.

We emphasise meeting the pupils where they are, and developing their academic, social and personal competences through clear frameworks, positive relationships and meaningful communities.

You will, among other things

  • Plan and carry out teaching based on each pupil’s strengths, interests and development opportunities.
  • Create a predictable, safe and motivating school day for the pupils.
  • Support pupils’ first encounter with school life and contribute to good transitions between school and after-school care (SFO).
  • Work with structure, visualisation and clear classroom management.
  • Join in close collaboration with teachers, pedagogues, kindergarten class leaders, pedagogue assistants, parents and external partners.
  • Document and monitor pupils’ academic, social and personal development.
  • Contribute to the continued development of our special pedagogical practice.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is a trained teacher and has a desire for or experience with teaching in the primary grades.
  • Sees the value in creating strong relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Has an eye for the individual child’s needs and can also support participation in the community.
  • Is clear in your classroom management and creates a safe learning environment.
  • Thrives in close interdisciplinary collaboration and actively contributes to joint reflection and development.
  • Meets daily work with engagement, curiosity and good humor.
  • Enjoys teaching across subjects and pupil prerequisites and sees the value in contributing flexibly to the team’s overall task solving. With us, subject specialization is less decisive than the ability to create learning, well-being and development for the pupils.

Daily life at Ellebæk department

At Ellebæk you will encounter a school where recognition, curiosity and collaboration are the driving forces of our work. We know that relationships are essential for learning, and we work purposefully to create safe frameworks where children can develop academically and personally.

We use a structured and visualised special pedagogical approach that gives pupils an overview and the opportunity to succeed. At the same time, we focus on creating meaningful communities and positive learning experiences that strengthen pupils’ motivation and participation.

You will become part of a strong professional community with a high degree of collaboration, sparring and shared task solving, where we pull together.
