About the job

Do you want to help build a strong and cohesive lower secondary school – from the ground up?

We are looking for an engaged and relationship‑oriented teacher with a major in mathematics and science (e.g., physics/chemistry), who wants to be a central part of the development.

About us

We are a school in development. We have become our own – and that means we are in the middle of an exciting process where we will build a strong and meaningful lower secondary. We are a two‑track school; for us, the lower secondary does not start until 7th grade. We believe that good relationships and strong learning communities are built over time. Therefore, work starts already in 5th grade.

We also have a clear didactic direction where we prioritise collaboration in teaching. Specifically, we work with co‑teaching in Danish and mathematics for a minimum of two hours per week, because we believe it strengthens both students' learning and the professional learning community.

At the same time, we are in a special position in the Municipality of Herlev where there is political priority for investment in schools. We are making a massive push for the public schools and are investing DKK 21 million annually in the primary schools from 2026. The funds go, among other things, to a two‑teacher model in Danish and mathematics, professional development, and more adults in after‑school care and clubs.

This gives you better conditions to provide high‑quality teaching and to build strong relationships. And thus to make a difference for the children in school, after‑school care and clubs. In addition, from the school year 26/27 we have established local schools on each site with close and present leadership and a strong local community.

It gives you as a teacher the opportunity to

  • get to know the students well
  • build trust and relationships over several years
  • recognize each student's potential – academically as well as personally

We believe that relationships are the prerequisite for learning, and that the best results are created in communities where the students feel seen, heard and challenged.

About the position

You will be a key person in building our lower secondary and will have a significant influence on structure, culture and content.

We envision that you

  • have a major in mathematics and science subjects (e.g., physics/chemistry, geography, biology)
  • have experience with lower secondary, an advantage but not a requirement
  • have an interest in the elective subject Technology understanding, an advantage but not a requirement
  • maybe have experience as IT administrator or with digital solutions, an advantage but not a requirement
  • are passionate about the lower secondary and about making a difference for young people
  • see relationship work as a natural part of your teaching career
  • can work both in a structured and development‑oriented way
  • are keen to be co‑creators of something new – not just continue something existing

We offer

  • a unique opportunity to help shape a new lower secondary
  • a school with high ambitions on behalf of the students
  • a close and engaged collegial community
  • leadership that prioritises development, sparring and the courage to think anew
  • opportunity to follow the students over several years and make a real difference

We are looking for

We are looking for you who

  • believe that all students have potential.
  • work in an appreciative and clear way.
  • can create motivation and participation in teaching.
  • see the value in starting relationship-building early.

Application

If this sounds like something for you, we look forward to hearing from you. Become part of our journey – and help create a lower secondary where relationships, academic learning and community go hand in hand.

The application deadline is 29 November 2026. We hold interviews on an ongoing basis.
