About the job
The A-classes are looking for an engaged teacher for the early years – is it you we are missing on the team?
Can you create a sense of security, ignite a love of learning and spot the small victories?
We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about the children in the early years, who understands that relationships are the foundation of learning, and who has patience for this group. You should be eager to teach Danish, take on a class teacher role and help create a school day where children feel that they can succeed – academically, socially and personally.
The A-classes are a special provision for children with different prerequisites and needs. Many of our students have diagnoses within the autism spectrum (ASF), ADHD or the following comorbidity challenges. This means that we must be curious about each child and dare to think about teaching, structure and opportunities for participation in new ways.
The A-classes generally follow the Folkeskole Act, but reach the child where they are and create the framework for children to succeed. We do this, among other things, by having smaller classes and typically two adults in the lessons. We work with the principles of Low Arousal and are mindful of, among other things, the load on the nervous system, sensory stimulation and the importance of safe, predictable frameworks.
We know that learning does not always take place at a desk in a classroom. Therefore we work with motivating, differentiated teaching approaches, where we adapt the framework and create different pathways into learning.
For us it is important that you can stay calm when a situation becomes difficult, meet the child with positive and affirmative communication and find new possibilities when what we usually do does not work.
Who do we hope you are?
- Are a qualified teacher and want to teach Danish in the early years and take on a class teacher role.
- Have experience or interest in the target group ASF, ADHD, Low Arousal and the pedagogical tools that can make a difference for our students.
- Are passionate about relationship work and see secure relationships as a prerequisite for the children’s well-being and learning.
- Can bring your professional expertise into play in ways that make sense for children with different prerequisites.
- Want to develop learning environments where all children have the opportunity to participate and experience success, whether it is academically or socially.
- Value a close and trustful collaboration with parents and know that we succeed best when we work together around the child.
- Contribute positively to collegiality, share your knowledge and are willing to find solutions together with others.
- Think learning broadly – the A-classes have good opportunities to support trips away from home, among other things we have our own minibus that can be booked.
- You will have the opportunity to follow your students through the early years and get close to them and their families
You will become part of a team that helps each other
In the A-classes we are a present and engaged staff who work in teams that use each other’s professional strengths and help each other in everyday life. We place emphasis on good camaraderie, open dialogue and a culture where we together find solutions to the challenges we meet.
With us you will get
- A good start: You will become part of an onboarding process that helps you get well into the task and prepares you for everyday life.
- Professional development: You will have the opportunity to participate in internal courses and develop your competences in working with the target group.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration: We work closely with PPR, which is a fixed part of our annual cycle.
- A responsive leader who has first-hand experience from the floor and is ready to continue developing the A-classes in collaboration with the staff.
We expect that daily life can be variable, and that sometimes you need to think quickly and differently. However, you will not be alone. We believe we become more proficient when we share experiences, help each other and are curious about our own practice.
Practical information
Working hours are generally between 7:50 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., but until 4:15 p.m. on Thursdays. This is a permanent appointment. There is the possibility of flextime when you do not have teaching or meetings. You will be employed according to the applicable collective agreement in the area. A background check including child and criminal record will be obtained prior to employment.
