About the job

The canteen at Campus Aarhus C, VIA University College, is seeking an engaged kitchen assistant who can work well in a team.

As a food professional, you should have a good overview and the ability to take responsibility. At VIA we take pride in serving homemade food at student-friendly prices, and this framework is something you should be able to see yourself in.

You have a sustainable focus, an ecological mindset, and you take pride in actively working to reduce food waste and have a creative sense for reuse. Your commitment to sustainability in the kitchen is shown by your desire to share good ideas and your eagerness to absorb new knowledge whenever you have the opportunity to do so. We are working with the green transition, and here you may have experience or a desire to acquire knowledge about plant-based diets and legumes.

At VIA University College we want to have lively campus environments and to put our students at the center. The students should feel welcome and be involved in everything related to their education and student life. This is especially expressed in our canteens, where our students every day have the opportunity to purchase a healthy and tasty meal. We are continuously in dialogue with the students around the buffet in the canteen, and we have dialogue meetings with the students. We do this to ensure that the meal we serve the students appeals to them and gives them a desire to gather in our canteen environments.

The canteen at Campus Aarhus C prepares food for students on nine programs, guests and staff; in total about 6,000 students and about 500 employees.

In the canteen we are 18 employees with different backgrounds.

The canteen's vision is to inspire and delight our customers with the food we serve, based on sustainability and the use of fresh, partly organic ingredients. We shall create a good atmosphere around the food, and we want to surprise our customers while also meeting the official recommendations in the field. We want to be a leading canteen and we work purposefully for a more sustainable canteen operation, and we have the organic dining mark in silver.

The canteen occasionally has events outside normal opening hours, which is why there may occasionally be weekend or evening work in shifts. In return, there are opportunities for long holidays in the quiet periods.

YOUR TASKS

Your primary tasks lie in participating in the rotation plan for the kitchen. You must therefore be able to work in the departments cold, green, hot, bakery and various, and expect to take part in the incidental tasks that may arise in the kitchen. Serving, cleaning and dishwashing are of course part of the daily work.

You should help maintain focus on the canteen's visions and thus help ensure quality and health in the food as well as provide good service and show goodwill towards our customers.

YOUR COMPETENCIES

  • You are creative and eager to develop and challenge your skills.
  • You have good organizational sense and an excellent overview.
  • You have experience in making and presenting food, preferably from a larger kitchen.
  • You are service-minded and passionate about making good and healthy food.
  • You are a team player and actively and consciously contribute to a good working environment.
  • You have a ready smile and are good at communicating.

WE OFFER

  • An exciting canteen and workplace where many young students, employees and participants in continuing education and further education come daily.
  • Good collaboration in a team with a “lofty ceiling” and a busy daily life.
  • Exceptional opportunities to continue helping to develop the canteen's concept and values.
  • Good functional frames, including kitchen and canteen facilities.
  • High autonomy and influence in your own tasks.
