The Kernehuset Nursery is looking for 1 pedagogical assistant

About the role

As a pedagogy assistant you become part of a room team, with two pedagogy assistants and two pedagogues, for a group of 14 children aged 10 months – 3 years.

It is expected;

• that you as a pedagogy assistant have a flair for meeting the children at their level,
• that you are present, read and seek to understand the childrens signals, expressions and language and act on it
• that you can make yourself interesting to the children by initiating age-appropriate play and have ideas for activities with the age group
• that you are a secure adult who can comfort, but also set boundaries in a proper way by showing the child what is allowed and not allowed, as well as what they can do instead.

In addition to play and activities with the children, you should be able to handle practical tasks, such as serving and giving the children food, changing diapers, putting to sleep and helping with dressing. Tidying up toys, light cleaning, laundry and restocking in rooms and bathrooms with bibs, cloths, diapers m.m.

As a pedagogy assistant you are also part of the whole house and must be able to work across rooms, e.g. during the lunch period where staff and children from the three rooms are together in the common room, while breaks and lunch meetings are held. Or when sick/holiday, where you should be able to move to another room and join their team.

You must be able to thrive in a structured everyday life, where the day is divided into time for play, time to eat and time to change and put to bed - in a alternation of presence and activities with the children and practical tasks in the room or in the house.

You will participate in stuemøder, staff meetings and day care meetings.

We are looking for one;

• who can see themselves in the role described above and will be with us for 1½ - 2 years
• who has experience taking responsibility and having an overview from another job or voluntary work
• who is outgoing, smiling, welcoming, has good energy and is practically inclined
• who is reliable and flexible
• who is curious about our pedagogy, why we do what we do, and learns from it
• who can give and receive constructive criticism
• who has an overview, can read the situation or task and act accordingly
• who will put themselves into play and contribute with viewpoints
• who can be physically active and naturally alternate between floor play and movement with the children.
• who can keep several balls in the air at the same time.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Final salary determination takes place after negotiation with the union-represented organization based on qualifications, unless the position is covered by a pre-arrangement which can form the basis for salary setting

Weekly working hours: 37
