Train Controller for the Long-Distance Railway

Banedanmarks Driftscenter (BDC) in Trafiktårn Øst is a 24/7 operations center that monitors and coordinates remote traffic in Denmark.

The center's primary task is to perform the necessary high-level dispositions so that train traffic on the long-distance network can be carried out as well as possible in cases of unforeseen events, and the timetable cannot be maintained. At the same time, we are a department where no day is the same, and many types of tasks can arise.

Do you want the responsibility for the dispatch of train traffic?

The train controller is responsible for dispatching traffic on the Long-Distance Network. You make decisions aimed at restoring traffic in the event of irregularities, as well as immediate leadership for the daily traffic flow.

As a train controller you are also the railway companies' entry point to Banedanmark regarding dispatch on SR sections.

You draft train reports, as described in SR and other traffic instructions, both in connection with real-time corrections and orders for the coming days.

As a train controller you will also participate in some of the administrative tasks handled by our section, including the sending of LA.

You enter into a fixed on-call schedule with 12-hour shifts.

Traffic background and understanding for dispatch

Our new colleague has a traffic-related education within the railway sector, and experience in dispatching traffic from a larger Remote Control Center.

It is important that you are passionate about planning, correcting and executing traffic. You are forward-thinking and believe in your own decisions, and understand that we work for the whole. You are skilled at switching between individual work and collaboration in small groups. You are also able to solve several tasks simultaneously and act professionally in acute situations without losing the overview. It is essential for the job that you thrive in a fast-paced working environment.

It would be an advantage if you have experience from a role such as on-call or on-call substitute in Traffic Control, but it is not a requirement to apply.

Salary

The employment is covered by the Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations and the organizational agreement between Banedanmark and HK Stat for traffic staff.

The position is generally classified in salary group 3, corresponding to a base salary excluding pension of 36,829.55 DKK according to the applicable collective agreement, which you can find here .

Depending on your qualifications and competencies there is scope for negotiation of allowances. The total salary will include an employer-financed pension scheme of 16 %.

If you are a civil servant and internally employed at Banedanmark, you will after a concrete assessment be able to retain your civil service position. The position is classified in pay grade 32.
