About the job

At Åvangsskolen we are looking for teachers who want to help create strong academic communities, where all students have the opportunity to learn, develop and experience that they belong.

We are looking for teachers with a strong commitment to students' academic and personal development and to the community that makes development possible. This applies both in the general classes and in our special classes, Focus Classes. We have different student groups and different prerequisites to work from, but common to our task is that we must take the students' learning seriously and give them the opportunity to develop their potential.

We place emphasis on your ability to translate your expertise into teaching that starts from the students' prerequisites, awakens their curiosity and gives them the opportunity to explore, experiment and become more proficient. This requires both attention to the individual student and an understanding of the importance of learning together with others.

We also expect you to actively engage in collaboration with your colleagues. You should be willing to share your knowledge, discuss your practice and contribute to joint solutions. We develop the school together, and that obliges each of us to both listen and contribute.

If you can see yourself in this task, we would love to hear from you.

About the school

Åvangsskolen is part of Skolerne i Rønne.

We meet students and colleagues with a positive and acknowledging approach and start from each individual's opportunities and potential. We have expectations of each other and know that we share a common responsibility to help each other realize them.

We work for a committed community where good relationships, academic immersion and varied teaching go hand in hand. The teaching should give students the opportunity to be curious, ask questions, test ideas and develop their academic competencies. The goal is for students to thrive, learn and believe in their own abilities.

General and Special Education

At Åvangsskolen we have established the last classes in our special class series, so we now have Focus Classes from 0th to 9th grade. The target group is students with cognitive challenges, general learning difficulties or a corresponding functional level. The classes are normed to eight students.

The Focus Classes are anchored in connection to the general school, and we prioritize coherence between the general and the special classes where it is possible and meaningful for the students.

In the Focus Classes, the teaching naturally starts from the individual students' prerequisites and needs. This does not change the ambition for academic development. It means that we plan the teaching with regard to each student's possibilities, progression and need for support.

At Åvangsskolen there are about 425 students from 0th to 9th grade, and our after-school care (SFO) has about 155 children. Åvangsskolen, together with the neighboring division Søndermarksskolen, forms a common school, Skolerne i Rønne.

We work in self-managing teams and develop our professional learning communities. Shared preparation, reflection and knowledge sharing are important parts of the work. We use collaboration to enhance teaching and ensure that all students both thrive and are academically challenged.

About the positions

We are looking for two to three teachers. We are focused on what you can contribute as a teacher and how you work with the students' learning and community. Your subject combination is relevant, but it does not stand alone.

We have tasks in both the general area and the special classes or across the two areas. We plan the tasks starting from the school's needs and your competencies.

We place emphasis on the following

  • you are a trained teacher and engaged in your academic task;
  • you are passionate about teaching and the students' learning;
  • you see the community as an important prerequisite for both academic and personal development;
  • you start from the students' different prerequisites and tailor the teaching accordingly;
  • you actively contribute to team collaboration and take shared responsibility for common solutions;
  • you are curious about your own and others' practice and willing to discuss and develop it;
  • you are good at building relationships and handling conflicts constructively;
  • you meet students, parents and colleagues with a positive and acknowledging approach;
  • you take initiative and seek sparring when needed.

Would you like to be our new colleague?

You are welcome to contact us and arrange a visit so you can meet the school and hear more about the positions.

Send us your application. We look forward to hearing what you will contribute to the students' learning and our professional community.
