About the job

We are looking for a department head who can set direction, create coherence and develop our efforts together with managers and staff.

At Social Area Adult in Furesø Municipality, we are in the process of a new organization that should support cohesive, rehabilitative and recovery-oriented initiatives for adult citizens.

We therefore seek a department head for a developing area. You will have direct management responsibility for three daily managers and become head of a department with experienced staff, strong professional-competencies and an ambition to jointly develop our initiatives.

You will not be building a department from scratch. You should build on what already works, bring together different professional competencies and, together with managers and staff, create the shared direction for the department's continued development.

We want something for our initiatives

In Social Area Adult we work with a movement from support to recovery and rehabilitation .

Our ambition is that citizens' own goals, resources and possibilities for progression should be visible in our initiatives. At the same time, we will strengthen preventive and community-oriented offerings and create better coherence across the municipality's initiatives.

The department handles a wide range of tasks within social-pedagogical citizen support, specialized interventions, substance abuse interventions as well as preventive, rehabilitative and community-oriented offerings.

It provides a broad professional spectrum – from early and preventive services to specialized support interventions. Common is the ambition to base work on the citizen's needs and resources and to work systematically with development, progression and the greatest possible independence.

Leadership is something we create together

As department head you will have overall professional, personnel and economic responsibility for the area and direct management responsibility for three daily managers , who handle the daily personnel leadership and operations close to staff and citizens.

For us, good leadership is not only about setting a direction. It is also about creating the direction together.

We therefore want a department head who can stand clearly for decisions and the framework, but who is also curious about the knowledge and experience that exist among managers and staff.

You must be able to create a strong leadership community with the three daily managers and a culture where managers and staff take responsibility, contribute with their expertise and feel that the development of the department is something we lift together.

It does not mean that everyone has to agree on everything. But it means that we believe in dialogue, inclusion and shared responsibility as the basis for creating durable solutions.

You will be part of a larger context

The department is part of the overall Social Area Adult, which includes authority, longer-term residential care and preventive and rehabilitative interventions .

As department head you report to the area manager for Social Area Adult and become part of the area's shared leadership.

Here we expect you to take responsibility for your own area and contribute to the overall development. We must succeed across organizational boundaries and create cohesive citizen paths together with authorities, residential care, the municipality's other professional areas and external partners.

You must therefore be eager to both lead your own area and lead together with others .

Who are you?

We are looking for an experienced leader with a relevant professional background and solid leadership experience from the social sector or another complex welfare area.

We place emphasis on you

  • have documented leadership experience and preferably experience in leading leaders
  • can build followership and develop a strong leadership community
  • believe in involvement and in developing solutions together with managers and staff
  • have an eye for the coherence between professionalism, quality and economy
  • can establish clear frameworks while also allowing room for professionalism and responsibility
  • can drive development without losing focus on safe operations
  • work systematically with goals, progression, results and follow-up
  • can foster collaboration across professional disciplines and organizational boundaries
  • communicate clearly and credibly and can stand behind the decisions made
  • understand the conditions in a politically led organization.

You do not need to have all the answers yourself. But you should be curious, able to ask the right questions and create the framework for us to find good solutions together.

Why should you choose us?

  • You will join a department with extensive experience and strong professional competencies—and at the same time help shape its next chapter.
  • You will have substantial managerial freedom, three daily managers close to operations and opportunities to work strategically and be close to the core task.
  • And you will become part of an adult area with a shared ambition:

We want to create initiatives that make a real difference for citizens' possibilities for development, independence and participation in communities – and we believe the best results are created together.
