About the job

Would you like to help lead a cultural school where art, learning and community go hand in hand? And are you keen to translate artistic-pedagogical ambitions into a daily life where children and young people have the opportunity to express themselves and feel that they belong?

The cultural schools in Høje-Taastrup are looking for a deputy head who can combine staff leadership and solid coordination with a desire to develop our offerings and collaborations. You will play a central role in a municipality with strong cultural ambitions and political support for the work.

A cultural school with strong collaborations and room for development

The cultural schools comprise the Music, Visual Arts and Drama School, where we offer teaching and artistic communities for children and young people. We want our communities to leave a positive mark on children and young people throughout life.

We collaborate closely with the municipality's primary schools and daycare facilities. In Taastrupgård we develop a special art-pedagogical practice for children with more than 40 different mother tongues. Here we work on how art and culture can strengthen children's participation, language, well-being and communities across different cultural backgrounds.

We are developing the Children's and Cultural House as a cultural beacon for children and young people in Høje-Taastrup. We also share our art-pedagogical experience, theory and research with the outside world.

You will become part of a culturally ambitious municipality which, among other things, has entered into agreements with the Danish National Orchestra and the Danish Football Association to create more activities and strengthen children's well-being. The cultural schools work closely with the orchestra.

Your role as deputy head

You will be a close partner for the head of the cultural school and the coordinators of the Visual Arts and Drama School. You will share in personnel management. At the same time, you must create coherence between daily operations, pedagogical development and our many collaborations.

Your main tasks will be to

  • Take care of personnel management together with the head of the cultural school and follow up on tasks, working hours, sick leave, substitute coverage, holidays and service leave.
  • Coordinate collaboration with the municipality's primary schools and maintain a close dialogue with the school leaders.
  • Coordinate projects with internal and external partners, including initiatives for our children with multicultural backgrounds.
  • Plan the season and coordinate teachers' schedules.
  • Act as facilitator for the Pedagogical Committee and contribute to further developing our art-pedagogical practice together with the leader and colleagues.

You also actively participate in everyday life and take on tasks that arise along the way. It requires an overview, flexibility and a willingness to find solutions together with others.

You set direction and generate ideas to make things succeed

We are looking for a deputy head who wants to lead and take the lead, while also listening and giving room to different professional backgrounds and perspectives. You can translate ideas into concrete activities and ensure that agreements are followed through.

It is advantageous if you

  • Have a relevant education and a solid artistic and cultural background.
  • Have experience with personnel management and with musical and drama-pedagogical practice.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically both verbally and in writing.
  • Excel at planning and coordination and maintain an overview in a diverse daily life.
  • Take pleasure in collaborating across institutions and disciplines.
  • Meet colleagues and partners with curiosity and respect.

With us you have the opportunity to influence the development of the Cultural Schools and be close to what the work is about: giving children and young people access to art, culture and communities.
