About the job

Are you looking for high professional standards, interdisciplinary collaboration and good development opportunities? Are you already a trained intensive care nurse, or do you dream of becoming one? Then read on and become a nurse at VITA.

VITA - the heart, lung, and vascular surgical intensive care unit, is seeking nurses. Do you have ambitions to be a meaningful part of a strong team with interdisciplinary collaboration between doctors and nurses, and do you want to develop into one of the country’s most skilled nurses? Then a job in the Anesthesiology-Intensive Care Department V would be right for you. VITA is an intensive unit for patients with heart, lung, and vascular diseases – and for cardiology patients. “The patient first” is the starting point for our joint effort, and you will never be alone in the task.

At VITA you get very good opportunities for deepening your expertise - from basic to advanced and highly specialized nursing. In addition, ward rounds take place with us at the patient, which means daily sparring and dialogue between nurses and doctors.

Training and career

You will receive a thorough introduction in the form of a training program outside the staffing norm, and this is organized according to the experience you bring - both theoretically and at the bedside with your three contact nurses. There is professional sparring every day and an introduction program containing theory days, etc..

If you are not a highly specialized intensive care nurse, it is expected that you take the two-year intensive specialized training when you are qualified for this – another step in your professional development. As an intensive-trained nurse you will be instructed to competency levels 1 and 2 in advanced heart failure treatment, and you will also have the possibility to become part of one of our improvement groups, including participating in the teaching of new nurses. In other words: many opportunities to deep-dive into particular nursing domains.

Your qualifications

Your current competencies are aimed at critically ill patients and their relatives, and your focus on high professionalism, independence, and interdisciplinary collaboration. It is important that you are focused on improving patients’ and relatives’ experiences during hospitalization. We prioritize applicants with intensive experience.

With us you get

Rich opportunities for professional development, so you can become one of the country’s most skilled nurses.

Acquisition of core competencies within, among other things, heart failure treatment.

A dynamic and changing daily life, where there is room for new thinking and development.

A workplace where the work environment is prioritized in a good mixed staff group, where you can get sparring and help around the clock from doctors and nursing staff.

Workplace

The Anesthesiology-Intensive Care Department V is a cross-departmental clinical department with a high level of activity and, by virtue of this, has a very broad interface that includes all hospital departments. The clinical anesthesia wards cooperate with the surgical and other departments in connection with anesthetic and surgical tasks, while intensive care and recovery wards cooperate with all clinical departments at the hospital to a greater or lesser extent.

To ensure the best possible use of the anesthesiological specialty and expertise, the department is geographically and functionally divided into 2 main sections, clinical anesthesia/recovery area and the intensive care area. Over the next few years, there will be a move to the new OUH, which may also bring organizational changes.

The Anesthesiology-Intensive Care Department V consistently focuses on creating a good working environment and a workplace with room for professional development, scientific activity, and education. The Department V’s strategy The Whole Patient describes the department’s vision, goals, efforts and activities.
