VMware Automation Specialist – build the cloud platform of the future

Statens It seeks a curious VMware Automation Specialist who will automate and further develop our virtual infrastructure. You will play a central role in developing automated processes for provisioning and maintaining infrastructure components.

About the position

We are developing SIT Cloud – a software-defined infrastructure based on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), where automation is central. You will have the opportunity to shape the technical direction and our working methods.

You will become part of our infrastructure and platform team, where together with experienced colleagues you develop, operate and improve the automation of the VMware environment. You collaborate with specialists in virtualization, networking, storage, security and web, and receive professional sparring to grow in the role.

Your tasks will include

• Develop and maintain automation flows, cloud templates, workflows and self-service catalogs in VMware Aria Automation and Aria Automation Orchestrator
• Automate provisioning, configuration and lifecycle management of virtual machines and platform services
• Integrate the platform with APIs, CI/CD tools and infrastructure services, and work with Terraform and Ansible
• Implement governance, role-based access and standards for secure and stable automation
• Troubleshoot, document and optimize solutions in collaboration with platform teams and project managers

The position is located in Team SDDC in the Area of Strategic Development Projects.

About you

You have experience automating infrastructure and are motivated to make complex processes simple, stable and scalable. You work in a structured way, take responsibility and thrive in an environment where people both learn and share knowledge.

We place emphasis on you having experience with

• VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and VMware Aria Automation or equivalent platforms
• Development of workflows in VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator
• Scripting in, for example, PowerShell/PowerCLI, Python or JavaScript
• REST APIs and integration between infrastructure systems
• Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, Git and basic CI/CD principles

It is a plus if you have experience with

• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Aria Operations, NSX-T, vSAN or related VMware technologies
• Self-service, governance and automation in private, hybrid or multicloud environments
• Linux and Windows administration as well as public IT environments, security and compliance
