About the job

Are you a teacher with your heart in the right place, in control of Danish teaching and an eye for the fact that relationships and wellbeing are at least as important as commas and class sets? Then read on!

At Stavnsholtskolen we are looking for a Danish teacher for our wonderful 5th grade children and team. And if you can also teach German, home economics, or crafts and design, it starts to look like a real match!

We are looking for you who know that participation and mastery are crucial for children's wellbeing and learning. You who can make children feel like an important part of the community, create enthusiasm for learning and see opportunities—even when the plan for the lesson takes a slightly different turn than expected.

For us, it is not only important what the children learn, but also how they feel while they learn.

We are looking for a teacher who wants to make a difference in both the class and the year group.

A teacher who is curious about the children, listens to their perspectives and gives them real participation. Someone who can create a clear framework for the teaching and at the same time make room for creativity, laughter and the good moments that the children remember long after the school day is over.

You should want to work with both the class community and the larger year-group community. Because we believe that children learn best when they feel they belong.

And you should want to collaborate. Not just about who takes the photocopies, but about the teaching itself, the children's development, and all the good ideas that become even better when we bring them together.

You will become part of something bigger

You will become part of our 5th year group and our youth environment, where subject knowledge, relationships and wellbeing go hand in hand.

As a rule, our teachers accompany the students up to and including 9th grade. This means you have the opportunity to build strong relationships, create continuity and follow the children through some of the years where the most happens—in academics, socially and on all sorts of other fronts.

You will become part of a close year-group team where we plan, develop and lift the task together. We have, among other things, weekly team meetings of 1.5 hours, where there is room for academic discussions, joint preparation, coordination and development. In addition, the team has FFF (common subject preparation) together once a week.

Who are you?

We hope you can recognize yourself in several of these descriptions

  • You are a qualified teacher and can teach Danish , preferably with competencies aimed at the upper primary/lower secondary.
  • You might also be able to teach German, home economics or crafts and design .
  • You have strong relationship skills and know that children do well when they can.
  • You are clear in classroom management and at the same time curious about the children’s different needs.
  • You are passionate about creating academic and social participation opportunities for all children.
  • You want to work with project-based learning and dare to try new avenues in teaching.
  • You see student participation as a strength and actively use their curiosity.
  • You want to prepare and develop teaching together with your colleagues.
  • You collaborate trustfully with parents and see them as important players.
  • You contribute with stability, engagement and good humor. Even on a rainy Tuesday in November.

You do not need to be able to do everything from day one. But you should want to learn, develop, and be part of a community where we help each other succeed.

In short: We are looking for a teacher who wants something for the children—and who wants to do something together with us.

And who are we then?

Stavnsholtskolen is a school with high ceilings. Both in our physical environment and in the way we think about school.

We are located in scenic surroundings with good outdoor areas and spacious learning environments. But what we are most proud of is our people and our community.

We have high employee wellbeing, and our students also tell us that they thrive. In the latest student wellbeing survey, we placed well—in both Furesø Municipality and nationally. That’s not bad! 😉

Our daily life is built on five values

Community – joy – recognition – curiosity – formation (dannelse).

And no, they are not just on a poster we once made. We actively work with them in everyday life and twice a year place special focus on the values across the entire school.

We accommodate about 580 students and almost 120 colleagues across the main school, single-subject grouping, far-reaching special support, and a leisure section for 0–3 year groups.

You will become part of a dedicated staff group where teachers, pedagogues, guidance counselors and leaders work toward the same goal: that all children have a good school day and feel that they are a valuable part of the community.

Why should you choose us?

Because we actually like going to work. And because we like each other.

We help each other, share ideas, laugh together, and believe that the best school is created in the big WE .

We prioritise a good working environment and the sense of community – both in teaching, in team meetings and when we meet across weeks, shared activities, summer party and Christmas lunch.

And we also have good coffee. Of course, that does not solve all challenges in a school day, but it helps a bit!

Shall we meet?

If you have read this far and think: “This actually sounds like a place I would like to be” we hope you will send us an application.
